Movie: Massive exposition of world of dune; introduction of Harkonnen's, Atreides, Emperor, Fremen, Bene Gesserit (poision needle sequence), and Spice (worm attack on spice crawler sequence); multiple dozens of characters introduced; Atreides occupation of Arrakis; Harkonnen invasion of Arrakis and fall of Atreides; Escape sequence with Paul and his Mom; Paul's introduction to the Fremen and his duel with Jamis. xQc: Not much really happened in that movie bro, kinda slow tbh.

I don't think he understands that some of the technology is regressed because this book for one came out in the 60s for two there are very regressed portions of the technology, in the first film while Paul watches the projection it looks VERY old

That's actually not the reason. By 60s, there was already a lot of crazy scifi with space travelling and ai involved. But Dune takes a step further in time where all AI are illegal and most of them are destroyed in war. Analog technologies are still around. On the deeper note, this is because Dune focuses more on the evolution of human physicality and mentality rather than technology. That's what sets it apart from most scifi.
