very good 2WAYF that can play PK and PP and can be on any line and excel, watched him a lot in tampa and he produced well on a line usually with stamkos and kuch/gourde/palat but still held his own. Playoffs weren’t very strong either time he went in tampa but the regular season stats are still substantial and he’s definitely worth a 1st that will be out of the top 10 (50/50 out of 15 chance) in either 2020/2021. Also is a great shot blocker and board digger player

Tampa are not getting a Top 10 pick. 2020 is protected. And Canucks will easily be a playoff team by 2021!

As a Rangers fan living in Florida, I've been watching him pretty much his whole career in NY and Tampa. He's one of those guys that's definitely got tools, but he's more of a benefactor than a generator. If he's on a line with Petterson, he'll look good. He'll likely grind and put himself in the right place in front of the net, making things a bit easier for Petterson and Boeser to work their magic. If he's on another line, he'll still probably do okay but probably not scoring as much as people would like to hope for based on his Tampa numbers which are a bit inflated because he played on the top line for a long time.

Yes that would be a terrible trade if the Canucks finish last place the next two years. The only reason Benning did it is because the Canucks will probably make the playoffs this year or the next. I agree a bit of an overpayment but not terrible considering a lot of first rounders don’t end up playing NHL games

Canucks were only 9 points away from playoffs this season. Next season we will have JT Miller, Pearson, Hughes + maybe some free agents like Panarin, Myers, Gardnier. Kids are one year older and Nucks had terrible injury lucky in last season, Boeser played like only half season 100% healty, and Pettersson missed 11 games. Im sure they they can be playoff team in two years.
