The big things you really need to get in this offseason are another really good defenseman and a real top line sniper. Rick McMuffin is really better suited for the 2nd line. Maybe you can package Burakovsky and Wennberg as well as potentially other pieces for a top line sniper. You can move on from Wennberg now because Luke Roach should be ready for 3rd line minutes. As far as Hunter Lightning goes, it’s really 50/50 with him. Maybe give him one last chance and if he starts to shit the bed, send him packing.

I do not want to say this but, with Hunter Lighting's extremely high trade value you should trade him. Goalies do not madder at all in this game and as long as you have an 83-84 overall goalie you should be fine.

you speak the truth. I went through my franchise mode and I had a high elite goalie that i decided to keep. Sure he rose up to be like a 88-89 overall but he couldn't get the wins we needed. It didn't help that his trade value was absolute garbage and it wasn't like he was making outrageous kinds of money for a contract but I eventually traded him and went with a 83 overall goalie who ended up leading us to three straight cups

I think the idea of drafting a tendy and letting him grow on the sidelines is great. Hunter Lightning has a couple more years to prove himself and if worst comes to worst there's a great goalie ready to step in. A battle for that starting goalie position would fun to see as well. That OT game 7 against Colorado was like TBL-CBJ + DAL-COL from last year playoffs. Crosby end it like Kiviranta for dallas and almost as many overtimes as Tampa and Columbus.

doesnt matter how good you think hunter will be. most of the time these goalies bust or have the odd amazing regular season and then choke in the playoffs. goalies arent that important in this game. you can get an 83-87 overall goalie who does at least the exact same. with his trade value and needing to save cap in the future for bigger star forwards and defenseman i would trade him. id go after a guy like point.

I find it isn't to hard to find medium elite goaltenders in the 4+ round i'd definitely look at picking up a guy sooner rather then later cause it may take 3-4 years for him to be ready its never bad to have options... loving the franchise so far though

I'm not gonna lie, I think Hunter Lightning is an absolute legend, but I think you might want to trade for Zhang Chao. I think an ideal trade for Zhang is Hunter lightning and Oldrich Slegr for Zhang Chao and anywhere between a 2nd and 4th round pick. I think you will need to add Slegr instead of just Lightning for Chao because Chao is a franchise potential vs Lightning, who is elite potential.

I know this sounds crazy, but you should look at trading Zion. The top 6 need a shake up. The team is missing that top line elite sniper. McMuffin is better suited for 2nd line imo. Zion has failed to show up in the playoffs, and hasn't proved he can carry this team. Power forward wise you have Bellows and Roach still. Also, maybe move Crosby, that extension will hinder the team. You could go with a top 6 of something like: Bellows - Wright - Sniper Playmaker - Roach - McMuffin I think defensively you will be fine with both Slegr and Hutchings, both should grow in the offseason. Could be time to move on from Zadorov, although I wouldn't overpay Letang either

Pay attention to a goalies "poise" stat. A goalie can have insane stats across the board but if the "poise" is low he will be out to lunch in the playoffs

I grabbed peanut butter filled pretzels, they were gone in the 3rd OT xD . I would consider a Hunter Lightening trade, but I would check the poise stats of all your players, that would lead to the back to back to back to back goals in rapid succession. I would bottom half blow up. resign letang for a year, JAMAL FREAKING HUTCHINGS hopefully grows to play. I would trade wennberg and get a physical C (veteran) that’s got good defensive stats. trade burakovsky for maybe a two way and Greenway. 1 more year then I would start trading massive chunks (Hunter, McMuffin, bellows) for a 2 year rebuild. your team is still young = low poise. arrange lines and pairs to balance the poise stats, change your coaching play styles per line maybe? and let it bang. LINES: Big Z - Wright - McMuffin Bellows - Crosby - vet 2 way 85ovr Kapanen - Roach? - Grinder? can Calvert, sign old aging stars in their last years. PAIRS: Hedman - X (Big J) Fluery - Letang X(new)- X (lehtonen) bottom pair play less, bring up young guns, pay 82-83 ovr 1 year deals. sorry for the book, eager for the next one 👀👀 BONUS: hint, ice time allocation is set to roll 4, I would focus on top 9 and and top 4.

i dont think the team needs to be blown up but needs a bit of a retooling: i team depth is an issue; need guys on every line to produce a lot more (aside from crosby). The defence needs improvement. i dont think soderstrom is working out the second pair and the bottom pairing could use some work. The only reason you should hunter lightning is if you have a suitable option to replace him, whether that be trading him for another goalie or moving him for picks and prospect to get you a better goalie. Also a FWI: you can see if and how much a player is extended for if you scroll to the far right of their details in the trading menu, its a bit confusing as it will only show how many years they have left on their current deal but it will show how much they'll be making per year on their upcoming extension

Make sure you trade hunter to a team that needs a goalie and make sure they also have decent draft picks. Do not resign Kris Letang for the same amount he was an 87 last season and drop to an 85.

Poise seems to be a big factor after the trade deadline and even more so in the playoffs. Hunter was solid in the regular season, I think he still has potential. I know you're cap strapped but I'd maybe look for a backup with high poise at like 82-85 ovr who can take over in the post if Hunter starts choking, at least until Hunter gets more post season experience to bump his poise. Losing Letang really didn't help either since that's a big veteran presence lost.

Pheonix Copley's an Alaska native, if you do decide to let Lightning go (not saying you should, but if you do), Copley could be the ideal replacement. Also, it might be time to let Letang go to give Slegr or Hutchings a full time roster spot if they improve in the offseason, but that clears up 11 mil in cap space, so if you do trade Lightning (again, not saying you should, but if you do), you could trade him with a second or third line winger and a 1st round pick to try to get a 90+ overall sniper to play alongside Bertuzzi and Wright. I doubt Kazov or Michkov would be possible to get, but if they are, a Bertuzzi-Wright-Michkov/Kazov line would be an absolutely insane top line. Please don't trade though McMuffin never trade McMuffin I WANT MY FREE EGG MCMUFFINS. Love these videos!!! :)

100% lightning. The high overall goalie is great for regular season, but dose not translate to playoff success. (Ie: vasy vs cbj sweep) look at biningtons rating last year, I think ea took that into account. Murry on pens, Crawford on chicago, all were mediocre before winning the cup. Never won a cup with a 84+ goalie. Never paid more hen 2 mill for a goalie. Jeep it cheap and keep it starter potential.
