I actually received my D1 Friday...got it assembled on Saturday, did some tests and though I have a loooooong way to go, all in all I have dine pretty well...burned a photo on wood, practiced some other burns, etc...cut the photo out, not too bad. Do you have the burn tests for the D1 Pro? Mine came with the 10 watt module, but my order included the 40 watt upgrade, which should be here Monday. So I will have to start over figuring the power / speeds out...

Thanks for the video, and explaining the jigs. I saw them for sale on Etsy but was unsure how to use them. They could help me quite a bit. As for the little round magnets (4 in total) are actually feet for the honeycomb. It took a while and multiple videos before I discovered that. If it wasn't for videos like yours and a couple others I follow, I am not sure I would ever learn how to use my Xtool d1. The information that came with the laser was lacking, to say the least.

I bought and downloaded your honeycomb adapter and multi jig files for my D1 Pro 20W. I love the concept - it's a huge timesaver! Have you (or anyone else) had problems with the honeycomb adapter being a little TOO tight? It's almost like those clear bumpers are just a hair too thick and I'm having to work extra hard to get the last one to pop in. I got it in, but I think it is so tight that it's actually pulling my frame a little out of square. I made an A5 journal jig with your plans and in my testing I'm finding that my engraving is not quite square to the journal cover. I was thinking of sanding on the bumper a little, but I wanted to see if anyone else had run into this before and had a good solution. Keep up the great work!
@TheClackShack
@TheClackShack 2 ай бұрын
I designed it to attach them to a board, then insert the honeycomb. The fit is intended to be tight for accuracy. If you are not attaching yours to a board, you may have to make adjustments.

Excellent solution, if I may give you a tip, do not move the laser head so quickly with your hand, you now generate current from the stepper motor to the electronics (just like a dynamo) and can damage the electronics.

This is amazing. I really want it as it would solve my issues. I have the Xtool enclosure max. I'm seeing others saying it won't line up with the holes. I have the newer enclosure model that has a solid hole vs 3 separate, for the cords etc. So I will purchase this and get it burned and see if this works with the enclosure with holes like mine. I will update you with the results. I'm hoping it works but it should. Thank you for all the hard work put in.

@janellgarcia4171
@janellgarcia4171 2 жыл бұрын
@The Clack Shack To clarify I was in no way saying it didn't work. I think this is brilliant and love your videos and channels. I'm referring to those saying it won't line up with the enclosure holes for the power buttons. I don't have the 3 holes, I have one solid so it should work for me. I was simply saying I will personally do it that way if it works for mine, you can let others who have the one solid hole with xtool enclosure know that it works. I'll let you know how it goes. I'm excited to have this.
@janellgarcia4171
@janellgarcia4171 2 жыл бұрын
@The Clack Shack it works great with the enclosure and the hole is fine for the plugs and power switch. Again, I have the newest style enclosure, that doesn't have 3 separate holes. It has one solid hole and whatever part you aren't using, you just put the same velcro on top. However, I have the extension kit on mine so I'm using 2 honeycomb (xtool) and this won't work for that as the honey combs fall short. I would have a big gap in the middle of the two. Maybe I can play with the file and measurements and figure out a way to make it work. I really wanted to use your jigs lol.

@The Clack Shack another update lol. I guess all those boring construction talks and going on jobs with him did teach me things after all haha. I got it!! Great idea. I need to come up with something for my Jinsuko LC-40 to keep both my honeycomb (the honeycomb is smaller than the laser work area at 300x300mm)and the work on the honeycomb from moving. Looks like the first thing I need to do is somehow bolt the laser itself down to keep it from moving. All I know is it is really annoying to have the work piece move just as I start the engraver. I have hold down clamps, but even those are not the best solution, especially with smaller pieces like 50x76mm that I have.

Just bought this file, and made the leg risers. Beware that XTOOL has apparently made slight modifications to the machines, as noted on the jig locking panels he has made. I got my D1Pro last Christmas (2022), but just made the extensions for the honeycomb grid. The legs were slightly too close together. Using 2 clamps I could get them in the holes, but then the risers would pull up in the back. I had to trim thin layers off the inside edges with a band saw. Still worth the effort, just be aware if you have a newer modified XTOOL, you'll need to adjust as needed.

AMAZING!! While golfing today, I was racking my brain on a design just like this!! I figured I'd have a look at your channel to see what you've done, and low and behold, you've NAILED it!! I've already bought your jigs etc, so this will be the next one for sure. I do have a question though, is there a definite reason why you you connect the jigs etc to the back legs? Have you tried the front? I feel like that be easier? Just a thought. I'm cutting out jig panels as we speak :)

Great idea on the corner blocks. I have a Shopsmith and can make those out of solid wood. In those wood kits like U-gears and Wood Trick, toothpicks are also used as axles. Right now, I have my setup on a table I made using a bi-fold closet door laying on a couple of sawhorses. I think I will see if I can come up with a way that I can hang the laser unit on the wall when I am not using it. I was wondering if Luan was good for laser cutting. Noone around me carries 4'x8' 1/8th inch Birch plywood (forget about finding Baltic Birch that size). I have to go to a big lumber yard 30 miles away to get it.
