@Buster Beagle, can you confirm your issue was a loose belt? That looks pretty far off IMO. What was the root cause?

I think the real issue is that since there are no limit switches on the machine there really was no way to know if the laser was going to hit the frame. I ended up shrinking the file by 10mm so there is one less outer ring but also a less possibility of accidentally hitting the frame while burning.

Hi Ryan! Thank you for this! Can you tell me the significance of the sizing of 400.6 x 401.3? Wondering if that's why yours is off center? I would think it should be set for 432 x 406? (Double the numbers 216 and 203?)
@BusterBeagle3D2 жыл бұрын
Hello. Outer square of the grid is 400x400, there must be a tiny section of the cross section being calculated in the software with a larger bounding box which is why it's reading larger when it's not. However, that is also the old grid and I would recommend the new version of the grid on Thingiverse. The new grid is one square smaller. Since the machine has no limit switches and even recently removed the homing button there is no way to find the 0,0 location without manually moving the laser head. Since this position can not be guaranteed the laser was hitting the frame while burning the grid and causing issues. Each line of the grid is 10mm apart. While I could have made it 400x430 it was just easier to keep it sqaure given the limitations to LaserBox Basic. 216, 203 should still be the center of the workable area no mater what shape or size the grid is. Hope this helps.

@@kimscreative6834 Those numbers are for setting up the rotary attachment to the laser. @BusterBeagle3D2 жыл бұрын
I would try to restart Lasebox Basic. Most of the issues are usually corrected when people just start over and try again. If you are still running into issues make sure you are using the “shorter” version of the lqx file from Thingiverse. I had altered the file to make sure it never got too close to the frame. With no limit switches it’s impossible for the laser correctly know its position. In the newer versions of laserbox basic they don’t even have a home button anymore. Probably for that reason.

Hello. You want to go over 216 and then down 203. Also just sent the power settings to basswood if it already isn't. I think the 1% was just a glitch and not the proper power settings. As far as the middle not lining up I would say to just shut everything off and try again. 99% of the issues people run into when trying to burn these magically go away when they just shut down and try again.

Then you really can’t use it that much. However you can still use it by lining up your honey comb to the grid so at least you have something to square it to which might be helpful when cutting.

Can you help I don’t see the ability to have a “home” for the laser?
@BusterBeagle3D2 жыл бұрын
In the latest version of the software they removed that button. To be honest they really should never have had that button in the first place because the machine does not have any limit switched so the homing just made the laser crash into the frame and stop. Now all you need to do is manually move the laser to the top left corner and follow the rest of the steps after that and you should be fine.

Hi Ryan, I want to buy your grid also. But I’m having an issue that when I download it and I open the file all I get is a bunch of gibberish and not the grid itself. Now, the laptop that I’m using is a Dell Inspiron 15-3552. It’s a windows 10. Now I understand that it might be a little old, but is there another way that anyone here can show me what to do? Besides buying a new one 😂🤣

@@I_keel_you Yes you download the .lqx file onto your laptop. You then open Laserbox Basic on your computer and click on MENU>IMPORT and then choose that .lqx file wherever you saved it to. Probably your downloads folder.

In my current version of their software there is NO HOME BUTTON where you can "set" the start point of the laser to the top left of the frame. This is WORTHLESS without being able to calibrate where the laser head is starting from.
@BusterBeagle3D2 жыл бұрын
The biggest advantage to the grid is to be able to square your piece to the laser an not to calibrate absolute positioning. There are no limit switches on this machine which is why I'm guessing they decided to remove the home button. It homed by basically slamming into the frame. There are other ways to "home" the machine to the same spot if that is what you want to do. This tool for instance. www.thingiverse.com/thing:5274995

@@disposablefiendnuxmu Yes I figured out the same thing. I thought I posted that here but I'm all over the place so it's hard for me to keep track. I'm thinking since download all generates a zip file Thingiverse might not recognize a .lqx file and it may be breaking that file...Who knows.
@reviveu22422 жыл бұрын
Hi just a tip for thingiverse the link will say "www.thingiverse.com/thing:5098673/files" instead of "files" replace it with "zip" so it'll be "www.thingiverse.com/thing:5098673/zip". It'll download all the files in a zip format.
@BusterBeagle3D2 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the tip. Unfortunately since the file contains an .lqx file the zip download doesn’t work. Each file needs to be downloaded one at a time or the download fails.

I have the same machine and when I use Laserbox basic I do not have a home button. Is there an update that I should have? as far as I can tell my machine is up to date. Or could this be something that was done away with, with the most recent firmware update?
@BusterBeagle3D2 жыл бұрын
Yes, They removed it since there are no limit switches on the machine so it really just stopped by banging into the frame. I guess there figured that was not a good solution. You can just manually move it to the top left corner.
