Thanks for the review. I have been using my F1 Ultra and conveyor to engrave 13.75 x 9.75 cutting boards...I am getting great marks. My customers love the boards. Getting great marks on slate as well...The F1 Ultra is not difficult to learn (my first laser)...I need to learn methods to speed up the engraving a bit. It takes 45 min to engrave a graphic intense project with laser marking from one side of the graphic to the other. Watch you and Clack every Sunday...Keep the great content coming...

I've added the in-line fan from XTool to my Ultra. I can cut with no flare ups now the exhaust is really moving that air. The cuts are a lot cleaner too.

GREAT REVIEW! THANK YOU! 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼 So I have to ask, money and portability aside, would you recommend the F1 Ultra over the LP5? I guess I am just going on performance, quality and engraving detail/resolution. I appreciate that they are speced extremely similar but that is not always what you get in the real world with real comparisons. Thanks!
@Vintauri22 күн бұрын
Useability I find myself more comfortable using the XCS software and you have a larger working area with the F1 Ultra. I've not tried to connect the F1 Ultra using lightburn, I tried to use the LP5 with lightburn earlier and had troubles. So from a software standpoint the F1 Ultra is easier to get going and use. I'm really hoping to get my hands on the LP5 enclosure to give a better comparison for in the shop use but that's built into the F1 Ultra, but at a higher cost.

Newbie here, we are looking into ordering and you mentioned not being able to do as much “cutting” as you would do on a different type/style of machine. Have you done much work with acrylic? That would be one of the few projects we would want to cut out after engraving. Thank you for the great video and help!
@Vintauri24 күн бұрын
I have not done much with Acrylic with the F1 Ultra. It does well with black and other dark colors, and you do not need heavy air assist with acrylic so it will do better with that than some wood products. Play around with the IR laser for engraving as well as sometimes you can get a brighter white marking with it on dark colors.

Thanks for watching. I try to provide as many details as I can to help inform others of the capabilities and limitations.

Am I able to make custom stamps? I mean think about it. I’ll just have to buy the rubber part of the stamp make the custom cut out with the laser and then just apply it to the stamp itself.
@Vintauri12 сағат бұрын
Yes you can engrave stamp rubber with this laser. I have some material but have not done it myself yet but hope to play around with that in the future.

Thank you for the review. I am enjoying my Ultra. Tried my first cut with the provided basswood and had my first fire. Small but the Ultra detected and stopped the project. Being ‘new’ to lasers if I may ask a question. I realize frequency is used with the IR. I have been playing with it but I cannot figure what that setting actually does.
@Vintauri2 ай бұрын
Frequency controls the rate at which the laser pulses or fires. The frequency setting determines how many laser pulses are fired per second and affects the level of detail and precision of the engraving. A lower frequency tends to be better for deeper engravings while a higher frequency is better for detail work. Honestly for this lower power fiber laser, I don't see moving above 30khz very often as 20w is low power compared to the 60-100w fiber lasers out there these days.

got my f1 ultra bundle, can you show me how to setup with purifier? i dont knw where the pipes goes
@Vintauri20 күн бұрын
The exhaust pipe needs to got onto the top of the air purifier. The stock tube is a tight fit and I ended up using some electrical tape to hold it on and seal it up. I'll see if I can cover that in a future video.

I wonder if the using the Blue Diode part of the laser it will engrave bitmap or vector images in deer antler slices.
@Vintauri2 ай бұрын
I did find a video of a guy using an xTool D1 to engrave deer antler slices, so I would think the 20w blue diode laser on the F1 ultra to do it as well. Deer season is coming up around here so I'll see if I can come across some to test at some point.

There are so many machines, can’t purchase expensive.
@Vintauri2 ай бұрын
Hopefully as more machines come out the competition drives down the price some.

You use Fiber and Infrared as if they are interchangeable. They are not. While IR has a fixed wavelength of 1064, fiber wavelength varies depending on what element is in the optical fibers. Fiber wavelengths are all within the Infrared spectrum so technically they are IR lasers, but not all IR lasers are Fiber. No fiber optics = not fiber. Maybe you can pop the cover off and see if this has fiber optic cables or not. I'd be interested to know.
@Vintauri2 ай бұрын
From what I'm told and in some of the marketing views the F1 Ultra does have a fiber element to produce the laser beam vs the diode emitter on the regular F1. I'm not ready to risk destroying this one just yet but hopefully someone can do a tear down and tell us the true type of source for this one.

It’s more than double, 115x115 is 13,225…. 220x220=48,400…. Technically it’s 265% larger
@Vintauri2 ай бұрын
You are correct on the math. I'll need to test the actual usable working space to know how much of it truly is workable. But having the extra area really opens up more working space to be more productive!
@CaliVapor2 ай бұрын
@@Vintauri oh yeah it does open up a lot of doors, I can’t wait to see more of your projects using it. I have been learning with a 70w 800x850 laser and it’s 4 times the work area compared to 400x400…. although I find it’s more like 797x841… 🤦♂️ messed up a project with working so close to the edge.
@cubansli30992 ай бұрын
Thanks though, I guess the LP 5 is more portable
@Vintauri2 ай бұрын
The LP5 is more portable in it's stock setup, but it's also missing other features that this one has unless you add the optional enclosure to it. Then it's portability goes down as well.

@@ClintonCaraway-CNC if you are going for a pure fiber laser then yes you can get more power for the same money. But I don’t think that’s who XTool are going for with this machine.
