My feeder was a prototype that did not sit perfectly flat. The production ones will keep everything level without that curling up. Thanks for watching.

It is a great feature that I am sure other manufacturers will eventually copy. Videos don't lie and I try to show my actual experience with items. Many times on a new product like this they actually help the manufacturers see issues that weren't caught in lab conditions and make improvements. Xtool is looking at this now and should let me know if I did something wrong or they need improvements. I carefully set up items to hopefully eliminate operator problems and try to follow the instructions accurately. The P2 so far has been flawless and I know the accessories will also. Sometimes I get early prototypes that cause problems when used also. Thanks for watching.

Ed, I've got some ideas on how to build my conveyor system now that I have watched your video. Hopefully it won't be as hard to set up. That is an impressive piece of equipment. I'm not surprised you got good results so quick. I think a newbie to laser engraving would probably have a much longer learning curve.

The straight knurl on the feed roller with adjustable pressure on the top rollers feeds good. I actually think just some uhmw polyethylene sheets would work good for the conveyors. I have a couple changes to make to this to be able to feed the1/2 its supposed to be able to because that doesn't flex like the 1/4 and stressed the feeder. As you can see this is quite large when assembled. I'm thinking about making an 8020 frame with removable wings the rollers are permanently mounted on like a miter saw stand to make it a 10 minute set up. I am sure other companies will adopt feeders like this after seeing how nice it works. Sure takes a long time to engrave long panels. That filter would work good for a craft show setup. Thanks for watching.

Okay so what I'm noticing is that you have your rollers on the flap down in the rear that can cause the material to heighten. The conveyor you can open the lid and it will allow it to then release the movers so you can control it to back out materials

No it was the feeder mounts are off some and when the 4 screws are tightened it tips on an angle. I had early prototype parts that weren't perfect. A couple shim washers under the 2 back bolts got everything level and working properly. I did find out about the cover release later. Thanks for watching.

The only issue I have with the Smoke Purifier is that they only sell full filter sets as replacement. The different filter stages usually have a lot different run times. So you might want to replace the pre-filters before you have to replace the carbon one. It's good to hear that it seems to work good though.
@unemployedredneckhillbilly2023
@unemployedredneckhillbilly2023 Жыл бұрын
It did a good job with absolutely no smoke in the air. Only smell came from when the engraved parts exited the machine or the lid was openedwhen sitting idle. I am wondering how hard it would be to cut a hole and replace the carbon in the main filter as that will most likely be the first to go. I couldn't find specs about the average replacement requirements. It is quite noisy so would be best to keep it behind the laser and not along side of it like I had it. Thanks for watching.

You definitely need a lot of space to take advantage of the full capacity. About a 20 ft long open area. Outdoors would be best to deal with the odors. Thanks for watching.

What were your setting for cutting? I made a window vent that I want to cut out. Have a question on tabs. How many tabs do you add. It would be nice if the software did that for you
@unemployedredneckhillbilly2023
@unemployedredneckhillbilly2023 Жыл бұрын
I used the 6mm basswood settings. My plywood is European 1/4 inch multiply poplar and it cut good. The software does add tabs under the cut tab. Scroll down and I added 12- .5 mm tabs. My feeder is defective and the plywood should sit flat according to xTool. I now use washers under the back screws to twist it down. The flash back burn on the bottom side when cutting over the rails is terrible so try to put the rails under the area with the least amount of cutting. Thanks for watching

It connects with the 4 screws at the front of the machine. Right inside the lid. Mine is a prototype and the brackets twisted it up some when the screws were tightened causing the workpiece to rise up but yours should sit level and not have the rising issue I saw. Be sure to use the tab function. Works nice. Thanks for watching.

Did you set second roller in place on top of installed roller. If so you need to take out, tha is for paper you position paper card stock over bottom roller, then you put top roller on to keep paper card stock down
@unemployedredneckhillbilly2023
@unemployedredneckhillbilly2023 Жыл бұрын
That's only for thin paper. That sticks up 8mm over the bottom one and drops in place. The bottom roller on this is too high so I am going to remove it if there is no way to lower it. Have to make an adapter to move the tracks back for relief in the cutting area and should be no rubbing on the top then or melting of the rollers from the flash. Works good with thin stock that bends like I used but I couldn't get 1/2 to flex for the thick settings so I just went with the thinner setting and full 1/4" multi ply. Mine is a early prototype so not sure if they all are like it. Thanks for watching.

I thought I had seen a video where they said opening and closing the lid is what locks the rollers in place. I cannot find who it was now. Even with the machine on after a project is finished with the lid open the rollers remain locked?
@unemployedredneckhillbilly2023
@unemployedredneckhillbilly2023 Жыл бұрын
I will have to check that. I tried it with the cover open aftre unlocking but maybe didn't turn the knob hard enough or click the done software button. Would be nice if there was a load and unload button with that knob so close to the housing. Thanks for watching

What's the max width of material you can engrave or cut with the XTOOL P2 and Conveyer? Is 24" wide x 96" material ok? The bed size is 26"x14" but says working area is 23.6". Is it the same with the conveyer installed?
@unemployedredneckhillbilly2023
@unemployedredneckhillbilly2023 6 ай бұрын
The max width is about 19.5 inches that can be fit through the feeder. 96 long isn't a problem and a little over 1/2" thick is max that will feed. Getting the max perfectly lined up will be tough and I think about 18' x 96" is a safe size for problem free use. They should have the actual specs on their website. Thanks for watching.

@@unemployedredneckhillbilly2023If I knew somebody that had a P2 I would definitely like to have them demonstrate some stuff before I purchase. The XTOOL support said pass through can't be done without the conveyer. It seems like all the engravers with pass through can do it so why can't the P2?

I don’t get follow up messages and just saw this. The opening is 24 wide x 5 inches tall through the printer with the riser base and bothdoors open. Without the riser there's no feed through. Not sure if the doors are interlocked so it won't run without the feeder, but if the plank is wedged up in place it should be laserable.

Does the exhaust have to be channeled outside the house with the smoke purifier?
@unemployedredneckhillbilly2023

No it didn’t. The purifier actually works good. The only smell I got was outgassing of the cuts and engraving when they exited the laser. My feeder turned out being a defective prototype. The raising up is not normal. Really works now with some shims to level it. Thanks for watching.

I’ve been watching a ton of videos before potential purchase. Did you say the max thickness is 14mm? As in, just over .5”? I require just Uber an inch and sounds like this will not yield more than our polar which is .5”. Great vid-nothing else I watched shared this info and no info from Xtool either. Cheers
@unemployedredneckhillbilly2023
@unemployedredneckhillbilly2023 11 ай бұрын
First it turned out there is a problem with my conveyor not mounting horizontal that caused the bowing. It was an early prototype and should not affect production parts. The power is slightly higher then the Polar but why most videos make it appear to have much more power is they run it at 100% power. You know what that does to tube life though. All my Omtech videos are below 80%. 14mm is the max thickness that can be handled by the power feeder, not laser. Each wood is different so the only way to find the max is test the actual material you are using. Having to use the Xtool software to have full capability of all this machine can do is the biggest drawback to me. Currently Xtool is working with lightburn for full implementation but that could take a long time to develop and test. The best parts of this machine are easily adjustable mirrors, and standard lenses that are easy toclean and replace plus in the xtool software fully auto focus that works. Both are great machines but a lot of proprietary on the P2 scares me some. Thanks for watching.

Thank you so much for the thoughtful reply. It’s a good video and I’m kinda with you on the proprietary pieces. I do have the polar now but need to be able to engrave a larger piece than what will go thru the pass thru. It sounds from your response that 14mm is just the limit of the conveyor. Meaning, if I will manually tile it, I should be able to get much thicker in there without the conveyor. Is that correct? I’m not looking to cut deep stock, just engrave it.

without the riser base looks like about an inch x 24 inch clearance with the feet but spacers could be added under them. with the riser about 5 inches x 24 inches You would have to prop it up to the baseplate either way to try and get in the focus range. For engraving on long boards I really like my xtool d2 pro. or Ortur lasermaster 2 but smoke control is a problem. sorry, just saw this now. I don’t get notifications after the first reply.
