My P2S just came in today... And I haven't yet been able to clear out room in the shop for it. I'm super excited to get it set up and going - it'll be a huge upgrade from my previous laser, an Xtool M1.

The P2S is a great step forward from the M1!

I used your link to get some of that leatherette, can you share your settings for that so when it comes I have a place to start?

It does not come standard with the honeycomb grate. Did yours come with it? Mine did not

Mine came with the honeycomb tray.

Nice summary! Do you have a video or can you comment here about the maintenance required? How often is cleaning of mirrors/filters required and how long does it take?

Thx for the video ! Do you think that the overcost of almost 500$ to have thé S version is worth ? Kiss from France

No one mentions the CO2 cartridges in their videos. On the website, it says they are changed every use. Can you elaborate on that in more detail? Also - where do you get your replacements?

Does someone know how loud is the p2s? (dB or comparison to a common domestic appliance). Is the p2s louder than the p2? Thanks for response

Researching reviews on what laser to buy. I'm an artist (my husband, bless him, was the wood worker). Can the P2S cut thicker wood (thicker than 18mm) with a second pass (like 1 1/4 inches)?

I just got my P2S a few days ago and I am used to using my S1. I am having difficulty with the auto measure feature. For example I am trying to engrave a leatherette hip flask and on the slats or honeycomb it is too tall, but on the baseplate alone it is too short....how do I place it properly?
@TheReformationWoodshop2 ай бұрын
In that situation, I normally would take the slats out and put something down that is the appropriate height to get my flask up to where the laser can engrave on it. Maybe just like a thin piece of wood or something?

Was watching your hat videos. Are you still making/selling them? I couldn't find anywhere that you sell them except the one you have listed on the Etsy shop.

I do still make them! DM on Instagram if you’re needing something specific 👊🏻

I did 3 passes with 1/2 inch plywood and it won’t cut. Have you had any luck? We did 90/25. Any suggestions?
@TheReformationWoodshop20 күн бұрын
1/2 inch is pretty thick for any laser. I’d double your passes and come down on the power and you should be able to cut though nicely.

Very cool laser and certainly the one to get when funds allow. Just a side note, My Xtool D1 Pro 20 will cleanly cut black 3mm acrylic :)

Just used mine for the first time today! I notice that the front right side of the lid doesn’t close flush with the indicator/button panel. It’s lifted about 1/8”. There’s no obstruction and the lid moves just fine. Anyone else notice this on theirs?

@@TheReformationWoodshop I know CO2 lasers aren't really built for metal but I have seen CO2 and even stronger level diodes at least mark metal. Thanks for considering it.
@martinscrapp71662 ай бұрын
The one element missing from the review was the fact that the CO2 laser tube is a consumable item, and they are very expensive to replace. Perhaps not so bad if the laser is used purely for business purposes. For the hobbyist, however, I would advise on going the diode laser path. This is information I wish I had known before I bought a 40W CO2 laser by Flux. CO2 laser tubes service life is directly proportional to how much power is demanded from it. A bit like a car - stamp on the gas peddle, and you'll use more fuel. Drive like Miss Daisy and it'll last longer. CO2 laser for cutting = shorter service life. CO2 laser for engraving = longer service life. 😄
@ExotechEngineeringАй бұрын
While that is true, the usual lifespan of a tube is on the order of 6-10,000 hours. Roughly, 1 year before major degradation or failure. That said, it will go longer at reduced power levels [or reduced output compared to expectations]. When you factor in that running a laser full-tilt for a solid year 24/7 is almost assuredly a business application, a $400 laser tube replacement every year or two is not a big deal nor a deciding factor if its making you money. It would be nice if these were RF with a longer lifespan of course, but an RF machine of similar power with similar technology would be a straight full-on industrial level machine, much more difficult to use and integrate, and cost 2-3x the price. IMO, not worth the gain. Now, when Xtool makes a future variation based on this platform that is RF... I am sure everyone would be all-in yet again.

The biggest complaint from my viewers is that it's not 100% lightburn compatible out of the box. The fact didn't fix that was a big mistake.
@TheReformationWoodshop3 ай бұрын
That’s understandable but since it’s a software issue maybe it can be hotfixed? I’ve got no clue as I use XCS and wouldn’t change if they asked 👍🏻

P2S is a patch of P2's faulty point and P2 is just a toy.
@TheReformationWoodshop3 ай бұрын
You can definitely look at it that way… Or you can appreciate the fact that even though they made the best desktop laser on the market they listened to feedback and fixed the things that needed it.
