Today I got my A58's... But since I have a 57/66 EMG active pickups, naturally I set them to Active mode, only to find that a big chunk of my output and definition was cut... but when I changed to Passive mode, everyhing went to normal, got my output back, the punchy sound, etc.. Maybe I have a defective unit?

Strange indeed. If it sounds good in passive mode I would use that one over active mode. Nevertheless I would contact them to possible exchange while you still have warranty.
