How to Add Closed Captioning in Your Language (for Viewers):
Take the video URL you wish to caption but replace "watch" with "timedtext_video". This should take you to a rather self-explanitory page that allows you to either upload or manually insert your captions and tag them appropriately.

Thank you very much for this video. I feel that I am struggling most with actually speaking the languages that I am currently learning (french, spanish and dutch). However, what might be helpful for others as well: If you still go to UNI, ask if they have a language buddy system, which my UNI actually offered. (I just found out the other day, so maybe your school has one as well and you just don't know about it)

How long does it take you to be able to speak to German people? English is my second language, and although in my country we teach English since third grade, but it does help much... I watched a lot of English TV series like Big Bang Theory and Friends etc. with Chinese subtitles.. And over time I'm able to understand English, but it took me nearly one year to really be able to listen and talk in English.. I love German so much, but it's kinda hard for me to using English learning German.. Because after all my English is pretty bad...

Speaking is definitely the hardest part when learning a language- some people would think I'm lucky, since I'm learning German and my best friend comes from Germany, but he won't speak to me, so I'm stuck XD

We only ever speak in English, since it's both of our primary languages, and he steadfastly refuses to speak in German to me.

Hallo.

Another pro tip is to find a college roommate who will just barely tolerate your semi-German lifestyle and just refuse to speak English to her at all costs. Outright refuse. In line waiting for breadsticks together? Why bother with silly ol' English, a language you BOTH understand and are native speakers of, when you could ramble on for hours about nonexistent-omnipotent-being knows what instead? Great practice.

Julie Winpisinger That is a compelling argument. Luckily I have a Petra should I ever want to learn Chinese or Japanese. :) Why did I not take advantage of this at uni? We could have nerded out so hard together on this.

Okay, I feel sort of ashamed to ask this, but have you been a guy? Like, I've watched so many of your videos, and when I saw this one I suddenly had this feeling you kind of look like a boy (Absolutely nothing wrong about it, by the way). So, are you or have you ever been a male, or have you been a female your entire life? :)
