@@7mpowerd Yeah, THAT bike, used a conventional gearbox, with electric actuators to select gears and operate the clutch. Honda's DCT, (as all DCTs) is a whole, DIFFERENT STORY. It's another type of gearbox all together. It does have some disadvantages, mainly added cost, and weight (around 10 kgs), but the advantages are huge. Whether you like it, or not, is a personal preference. Yamahas Y-AMT is more like Honda's "e-clutch" than it is a DCT. It looks (from what I've read) that it's still a typical manual box, with electric actuators. These systems, are a lot cheaper to build, and offer similar advantages, but USUALLY, they are nowhere near as fast as an actual DCT. That being said, it has to be tested for actual results and opinions to be formed. PS. Either way, for spirited driving, the 6-speed "1N23456" sequential with a proper quick-shift setup, is king for me. For everyday use, I wouldn't mind the bike doing the work for me though.

Standard gearboxes will never go away for the simple reasons of price to produce and over a century of rider generations conditioned to them. DCT, E-Clutches and other automated transmissions will fill gaps in the bike market (Elder riders, returning riders, beginners, commuting centric, curious drivers, disabled, etc.) Performance of faster shifting aside Team Blue knows this. Very interested to see which models this will be used on as well as if it makes it to the States. 🇺🇸 🏍
