After our recent Fraser Trip we realised the standard Nissan rear cargo tie down points were not good enough for our needs. Looking in to how we could fix this issue we quickly realised a false floor would be the easiest option.
What is a false floor? It is a flat floor that replaces you factory seats and or rear plastics. Generally they are made from carpeted ply wood. This makes it easy to bolt things in anywhere you need in the cargo area.
I wanted to maintain the 3rd row seats of the patrol so I was only looking for a rear section. I came across the DASH Offroad modular false floor. This is a 3 piece design that gives you the option to run
• A complete rear floor (no 3rd row seats)
• A large L with 1 3rd row seat
• A small L with 2 3rd row seats. Or
• Just the rear section retaining your 3rd row seats
This is the perfect set up for me. And best of all if I change my mind I can add in the other sections as I need.
Pulling the factory floor apart was pretty easy, it was held in with 6 bolts and a few clips. I decided to cut the factory flaps that hide the 3rd row seat mechanisms, and install them on my rear section of false floor. This gave the rear a reasonable floor level with all the seats down, but a clean factory look with them up.
From here I bolted some aircraft tie down tracking to the floor to be able to mount my fridge battery pack and solar panels. It turned out awesome for my needs and is heaps more practical being able to easily remove the gear.
