Always remember: "quiet quitting" is the way they're trying to brand workers as lazy, the actual praxis is called "work to rule" (look it up). If that's too hard to remember, you can always go with "act your wage". Or, if you must insist on "quiet quitting", you should probably also talk about "quiet firing", which is when your employer doesn't give you a raise for half a decade because times are oh so tough, while posting record profits.

CORRECTION: as others have mentioned, "quiet quitting" is just doing your job as specified in your contract. Employers are trying to make it seem as if only doing what you are required to do - which is also all you're paid for - is somehow lazy, when the truth is that employers just want free labour.
@lyndsaybrown8471 Жыл бұрын
Yep. I think people get the idea that quiet quitters are people who do the bare minimum at a 9 to 5 job that also includes a one hour lunch break. When really it's people who used to work unpaid overtime on nights, weekends, and early mornings; people who always picked up and finished the projects that other "team" members just somehow could not; people who have been literally catching and fixing corporate errors before it becomes a problem; it's these people who are quitting in the sense that they will no longer be subjecting themselves to burn out.

That's not how the only person we've had to deal with used it. He was using his personal phone on shift and sitting in the Office instead of doing the patrols the client was paying for him to do. He was writing that he was still doing the work but it was easily shown on camera that he wasn't. The manager's with some other local companies were complaining about the same thing, people lying that they did what they were supposed to and they didn't. Not the lack of good employee's that'll help out their coworkers or the clients, but the trend of people lying that they did their minimum while goofing off. There's a difference between not doing your job and expecting to get paid for it while calling it "quiet quitting" and doing the task list without going above to help your coworkers.

In terms of burning glue, people who repair guitars, especially antique ones, (and some other types of old woodworking) sometimes do burn glue. @MarcKloos2 жыл бұрын
You mean autumn.
@khaightlynn2 жыл бұрын
@peter g the verbose announcer guy said he calls it solstice, so he is wrong. Sept 22 was the fall (autumnal) equinox, which means the days and nights are of equal length, and essentially represents the middle point of the cirlce. The days will get shorter from this point forward until the winter solstice, which is the apex point of this circular pattern, where the day is the shortest and the night is the longest of the season (and the summer solstice would be on the opposite side of the circle - longest day, shortest night). From that day until the next equinox the days will again grow longer and the nights shorter, until they meet in the middle again. Which will culminate with the spring equinox in which the days and nights are again of equal length, and just so happens to also be my birthday weekend so I am personally invested in knowing the difference between an equinox and a solstice. Anyway happy autumn yall hope everyone gets the pumpkins and flashlights they asked for

Once, at one of my busiest events, a mother holding a child of about 3 pushed other kids out of the way to pick up a cup of glue, while I explained the science of the slime. I watched in horror as this Schoolyard Karen hands the three-year-old this clear cup with a milky white liquid inside. Before I can say anything, that kid has drunk all the glue. I should have been more upset. But that's what you get for being a jerk at the slime table. There's a reason that activity was ages 7+

I'm so glad to see the top two comments so far are well-articulated pushback points on the topic of quiet quitting. That's awesome.

Don't let Americans into German city rivalries, they'll only ruin it. Once they take sides, they will label one side as red and the other as blue, and supply one side with guns to shoot the Jungfrau. The Köln-Düsseldorf rivalry must remain bipartisan!

"Autumn" is too complex for Americans, who prefer the more literal, "Fall." May I suggest changing the names of the other seasons to Hot, Freeze and Bunny.

Whenever Americans use something less complex, it's because they're too stupid for the alternative. Whenever they use something more complex, it's because they're too stupid to see the wisdom of simplicity. See also: the metric system
