One thing I’ll say about sailing is that there is a lot of money in sailing but it doesn’t take a lot of money to be in sailing. I grew up not poor but not rich by any means. For a while we lived on a 32ft sailboat that my parents bought for 10k and fixed up. Instead of daycare my parents dumped me at the sailing school and made me volunteer since I was 12, and I learned enough to get onto some racing boats as crew for some inshore events and eventually offshore stuff, where I did well enough to get sponsored. In now a professional sailboat racing crew member, where I get paid to fly to places and race on peoples boats, and I sometimes do yacht deliveries as well, without spending more than 500$ getting courses and stuff
