I really like the lay out of the other Globemaster you covered in another video but this ship looks much better put together. The last ship looked cheap in terms of the materials used and how everything appeared like a low grade manufacture, but, the layout or configuration made it look much more spacious.

Impressive indeed given the size and being other than glass. The Fleming 55' is and now the 58' will always be a favorite of mine and now, this trawler. Favorites because of intended use I have for such a boat. The cost certainly is a big plus. knowing the Fleming 55' is a superior boat for ovious reasons and given the cost difference, one must foremost purchase for their intended use of the vessel. Oh, how I would love to see Fleming offer a 40'/42' single engine trawler!

Nice yacht...It needs re-designing inside, loosing the L shaped seating area opposite the galley, making the galley bigger on both port and starboard sides...then using 2 L-shaped settees on the upper part behind the helm with a bigger folding table...In my opinion anyway 🙂

thanks for the review. Perhaps you could do things like put down the entry counters to the port and starboard guest accommodations. Then when you look back from the helm station you can see the line of sight. Strange that the master cabin has no door. I tend to agree with the majority of commentors who find the interior layout less than ideal

We did not want to spoil the interior or make her high with a huge "sugarcup" on the top. We call it a "Watchbridge". Easier to reach in real world than you think. In front you have a magic sun area, watching the cruising from one of the cosiest places outside. On the table behind the mast you have a complete movable steering station, with Plotter, throttle and truster control. This is movable from side to side for very easy control while mooring.

This yacht is put together after many years of research in cooperation with 10+ years experienced full time explorer world cruisers (In wich almost all of them only have one engine..). She is fully certified class A-ocean, and build in many cases way over certified standard. For nervous cruisers, you could put one or two wing engines on her transom. That was on the design sketch, but found unnecessarily, if you maintain your yacht well.

What's the logic behind that off-center bowsprit? (I guess it's not really a bowsprit if it's not on a sailing vessel, but I'm not sure what else to call it... anchor spur?) I want to like this yacht, but I agree with some of the other commenters, that interior layout is just not my cup of tea.
@erikleander
@erikleander 4 ай бұрын
With the off center bowspit, there is a smart welded ladder in the bow, for easier embarking. The interior layout is a very difficult task for any boatbuilder. Getting this amount of space and comfort in this size of boat, would for us need a 65 ot 70 footer. Maybe not suitable for every one, but when you are on board you will see and feel differences from normal thinking...

Bare aluminium being scratched shows less than a nicely smooth faired white hull I suppose… I guess this makes sense for an explorer style boat. And you don’t have to worry about corrosion as much as with a steel hull/superstructure when the coatings get damaged.

Not crazy about one Generator either especially one that you cannot easily access in open seas. Many Nordhavn have only one main engine but they do have a smaller wing engine/generator to get you home in an emergency plus a back up generator. Love the aluminum hull and superstructure. Like the view from the bridge but do not like the steering tiller being in an awkward position as related to the controls. Without seeing it in person it looks like from the video you need to stand to work the controls and sit to work the tiller to each their own but I would prefer something more natural. I like to be able to steer and change gears standing up in an emergency or in port in congestion. It is also very important to be able to work the controls and steer when sitting especially while underway in open area's in areas with little or no traffic.

No problems. With well maintained yachts, done thousand of times.. Going with one engine alone, many cruisers get scared for malfunctions. Often this is concerned with bad or not regular maintenance. We have found that one of the most reasons for malfunction is poor diesel quality. At remote places, or even at filling stations seldom used, you could get any mixture and it often contains water. Despite having one or two engines, when you fill up your dieseltank and use it for both your engines, poor diesel quality will not help you much there. Om YETI - Explorer we have a full diesel polishing system. Here you can clean all diesel before sending it to the engine to maximise reliability. YETI - Explorer is even equipped with a separate water drain system on all tanks. If you have water in your diesel tank, the water will separate to the bottom of the tank. Here we can, at the lowest point of each tank, drain the water before we polish, to get highest quality even before we polish. She is also equipped with a separate manyfold system for moving diesel between the tanks. We found it unnecessarily with twin engines, if you maintain your yacht well. Instead we got the yacht much quieter moving the engine outside aft, got much longer range, got a separate electric centre room and got a third twin cabin with a 200x160 cm IKEA bed installed. This we found was more valued, when exploring as liveaboarders.

Wasn't this supposed to be the first in a line of yachts? Like there would be a few of these Yeti models to be made? I read something about that a while ago, but I can't remember where. Like they would make these and then have them pre-positioned in South America, Asia, North Sea, where people would want to go exploring and then you could trade off with someone that also owned one. This vessel seems to be overpriced in conparison to many of the trawler style explorer yachts you have on your channel. I understand they are different vessels, and the appeal of this explorer is its lightweight aluminum construction. Vessels like Sea Ranger seem to be a mich better explorer for a small amount more. The traweler explorer "Poolster" sits significantly cheaper. The pure yachts 49 is an aluminum build at a 1/3rd the cost i know it is smaller but the accomidations are about the same.
@erikleander

Sorry can not agree with you at all here. They are completely different vessels, totally differently equipped for total different needs, 60 ton difference in weight, 5 - 20 x more fuelusage /Nm per hour, total different layout for liveaboards and guests, total different living experience on board and total different maintenance need during lifetime. YETI- Explorer is also a complete new boat. If you plan to keep your yacht over time, the price you see when buying never reflects the costs.. Discussing with experienced boatbuilders and long time explorers, she is rather underpriced.

@@kevinvandal8595 well since i havent used them personally; ill simply say what i have inferred from others. 1. there's a general dislike/ distrust of electronics within engine. that dislike comes from rational and irrational concerns, irrational being it feels too complicated to deal with rational being reliability issues and malfunctions in electronics. 2. new volvo pentas are less reliable than old volvos + they are high revving high out put engines best suited for planning and speed boats (and hulls). 3. while they are economics or can be economical as compared to outboards they pale hopelessly in comparison to things like luggers, john deere or cummins and whatnots, which brings down their range effectively making them coastal cruisers (which is fine in itself but branding them as long range trawlers/ expedition boats many of which can be transoceanic is simply dishonest marketing). 4. serviceability, different parts of the world and different class of boats have different different service coverage. so to get a service person esp since electronics are embedded within the engine is a big concern and worse if one stops in middle of the ocean (or any large body of water) crew/ operators might not be able to repair it themselves. 5. rebuilding/ refitting: i just dont know if its a thing with these engines, but ive seen luggers and john deeres do (i suspect you can do it with MAN and Cummins as well) and in case of john deeres kits and first party support is available. these are some of the inferences which i have drawn from lots of conversations and lots of reading up on it. i havent worked on them personally so of course i can be wrong. also idk if you know these but class, hull and tonnage of boats also categorises these engines for example new pentas seem to be clearly and exclusively designed for planning style (and fast displacement) hulls, activity is pleasure craft only and high RPM and higher planning speeds 20kts to 32kts. antithetical to slow, full displacement, long range expedition boats.
@erikleander
@erikleander 2 ай бұрын
@@abhishekparmar6702 ..well a feeling is free to have. Sad you have not tried them in person. Here in Scandinavia they have worked perfectly for decades, even on slower trawlers and displacement hulls. They are used on endless world-cruising Explorers World Wide. The new ones, with their new technique are one the most reliable and economical to drive. Sound levels are no problems, and YETI-Explorer is also specially insulated with the engineroom positioned aft outside to even lower any engine noise.
