So pleased to see your review of this Grand Banks, they’ve really moved on from the 70’s when I used to drool over them. Now they’re something else. No aft cabin but that could never happen with this new hull form. Great tour as always James, thank you

I love that this is an Asian Singapore based company. You really see a different point of view on yachts. I'm old enough to really prefer the classic style of Grand Banks - but these are just amazing. Just to give an idea, Bermuda is about 700ish nautical miles off the east coast of the US, roughly off the Chesapeake Bay. The Bahamas are about 50ish nautical miles off Florida. This boat could just zip back and forth to the Bahamas or take more leisurely trip to Bermuda.

Mark Richards has been a great asset to the company, along with a team of dedicated and talented craftsmen he has worked wonders. I always liked the Heritage models and the GB52 Europa was my all time favourite, things do change and the same at Grand Banks. Yes they are correct to be proud of their reputation but will not stand still as it were. The attention to detail is very evident and the quality is there to enjoy. I know you pay a premium as it were if you buy a Grand Banks but they are well respected no matter where you go or the model you own. I guess for some being able run a boat without a crew is tempting it’s important to remember that sometimes you need an extra pair of hands. On a GB32 you could do it all quite easily but a bigger boat needs a bit more skill and a captain that is capable of making sure they do it properly. The only compromise was the headroom in the engine area but I don’t think it would be a problem for most folk. I wonder if it would be practical to fit a water maker on this if you are going away for extended periods. Another quality design from Grand Banks.

Glad to see GB upping their game. Not a big fan of all the teak and below deck is the traditional tomb with little portholes in the owner cabin. Just not my cup of tea but always love to see manufacturers not resting on their laurels and continuing to innovate!

6:55 On screen: “• Range - _490nm_ @ 21 knots” Voiceover: “But for me the headline is, if you're travelling at 21 knots, this boat will do nearly _600 nautical miles”_ I guess one of these is correct, but which one?

Beautiful boat, Not a fan of the layout though. For 54 foot I would want a full beam master. I am glad they are still offering shaft drives and not forcing IPS on you like so many makers are now. IPS are a hard no for me. Sure they are cool and offer amazing maneuverability but I would trade all that for reliability and low maintenance.

Sadly, it looks as though the true meaning of the "modern twist" that is mentioned, I guess is 40 Gallons per Hour at 21 knots, or 2 gallons per NM!!! - through the injectors!! Or maybe a little more, if the sea is not flat.... Am I wrong?? Where did green go? Where will your money go??? In that little fuel filler! We won't even guess at the 29 -33 knot fuel consumption. Can you tow a tow a fuel truck behind a boat legally? Though, it would make a lovely house boat/Gin Palace, but don't start the engines. Really is nicely made inside.

Look like a mixed of old grand bank and Palmbeach boat! It’s obvious that this is the influence of Mark Richard who use to own Palm Beach boats now head of grand banks! Sad to see Australia losing Palm Beach boats and Mark to an American brand!Anyway,a fantastic design though

Most people will not buy a 54-footer as their first boat. So who's making the mid-40s efficient couples cruiser, where Grand Banks made its name? If they don't have a more entry-level boat, people are not going to connect with the brand.

Brag brag brag.... You have ruined the legacy of the safe trawler style Grand banks. Unsafe in extremely bad weather ☁️. Foolish move by a failing sinking company. Not the same boat of the old quality Grand banks.
@donovan1245
@donovan1245 4 ай бұрын
how? why do you think that it's unsafe compared to their old models
@RetroHondo67
@RetroHondo67 3 ай бұрын
Older models sat deeper in water and more weight in the bottom half of the boat. It is interesting that they are moving more towards traditional cruisers who all chase +30kn top speeds by shallowing draft with new less beamy hull designs, and lower the freeboard to reduce drag all in the interest of increasing top speeds and more fuel efficiency. The fuel consumption cost for people who are going to run them at those speeds kind moves them out of the market. No sure why anyone is not doing a traditional trawler like the old GB’s in a hybrid engine design utilizing modern materials to make them lighter/more efficient. They were popular because once you use boats you realize cruising at 10kn is likely all that is needed unless you need to outrun a storm. So I would be going back to the older designs which had more volume, headroom in the accommodations, raised bridge deck, and maximize the size of the fly bridge. Top speed around 20kn so you can escape storms is all the top speed you need (with decent sized fuel tanks so you can put some distance between you and approaching storms). Seems to me, too many compromises being made to have higher top speeds.
