Yaesu FT2900 is my first HAM radio and trying to understand what those letters on the buttons mean frustrated me so much that I asked someone just to put 5 frequencies in 5 memory channels for me. Now I have to change those frequencies and the nightmare relapse...until I found your video. Somehow after watching it just one time i felt like a complete idiot and become fully confident that I would be able to do it tomorrow. Thank you for making it so simple and easy to understand even for someone like me.

I'm glad you liked my video! Thanks for letting me know it was helpful. The lebeling on these radios is terrible. I'm an extra class ham and have had my ticket over 20 years and I still don't get what the button labels are supposed to mean!

Thank you for going slow enough for me to write it down. At age 72 I have a hard time with the video's that are fast and do not explain things slowly.

I am brand new to Ham radio and I am a slow learner. I have come back to this video each time I program my radio. I have hit a snag and hope you can help. I have programmed the first 4 memory channels. I know this radio has 200 slots open for memory but my radio won't go past 4. So at this point I can only program 4 channels. I have read the manual and cannot find any reference to this. How do I access the rest of the openings for memory? Can you help? Thank you.

A few things come to mind but its hard for me to really nail down what is going on without being at your radio... 1. Are you looking at the band edge channels rather than the "regular" memory channels? In other words, are the channel numbers preceded by a "b"? 2. Are you trying to program a frequency that is not within the radio's limits by accident? Double check all of the settings and make sure they are valid. You could try programming one of the frequencies you have already programmed into the next memory channel to see if it will accept it. 3. Sometimes these radio's brains get scrambled for no good reason. You could try resetting the radio to factory defaults and see if that helps. That, of course, means you'll loose anything you have already programmed but may be the only solution. I can think of a few other things that might be happening but try these first and see if you make progress. Good Luck and welcome to the hobby!

Your video is very helpful, and followed every step, for local repeater 147.000 mhz with neg offset -How do I set a neg offset? -The manual default is 0.60 MHz, do I leave that alone or how much do I adjust?? -Do I need to do that on 46 Shift?? Also can I program more that one repeater on the rig?
@SevenFortyOne
@SevenFortyOne 7 жыл бұрын
In VFO mode program your frequency and tone according to my video then: Push and hold the Set/MHZ button for 1 second to enter the options menus Turn the tuning knob to "RPT 43" Push and release the set/mhz button - display will change to "+RPT St" use the tuning knob to change the selection to "-RPT St" Push and hols the Set/MHZ button for 1 second to return to VFO mode You should now see the "-" icon at the top of the screen You can now write this to memory as shown in my video. Hope that helps!
