If I dont care about the duel receive or the color screen is this radio really that much different from the 400 I’m going to get one or the other but don’t want to spend an extra 150 on a color screen. Thanks for any thoughts

On the 400, the screen is bigger and is touch screen making it easier to use and program. It also gives you more screen area to see the APRS functions like messaging and mapping.

When you say it doesnt recieve two bands at the same time, do you mean if one band is recieving a signal, and another signal comes in on the other band, the first signal needs to cut out before the second signal will be heard? I guess Im confused why it even has a second slot for a freq if it has no purpose. Thanks

The radio only has one receiver so you will only be able to hear the main band that is selected, in this radios case the frequency that is on the bottom in bigger numbers...
