They probably weren't too surprised; it's a common enough mechanic. I heard the idea for the game may have come from Drill Dozer on the GBA, and Super Fancy Pants Adventures featured an analogous mechanic where you ride a fountain pen across scraps of paper. I think Rayman Legends had something like it too...

The Steam page description for Starstruck Vagabond has a grammar error which I just have to point out. Captain is singular, so it should read 'themself', unless he/she/other is suffering from a multiple personality disorder of course :)

In some areas they use themselves as a singular. Any auto grammar check would likely flag themself to be changed to themselves especially since themself is still viewed as not standard. It'll likely develop like ain't. Ain't was not standard but has been used for so long it has forced itself into the dictionaries who still whine that it's not standard. So we keep using themself, ain't, them'll, and so on and we'll eventually force them'll in.

@@jamesclarkson156 Hehe, yeah, whilst it's correct that it may be 'common parlance' and that both variants are considered to be appropriate, I rather look at it in terms of how it scans in any given situation. In this particular instance it seems to me that it scans badly; so with me being quite obviously over-sensitive to such things I probably irrationally felt the need to air my pedantic thoughts :p Words are cool innit ;)
