Yak! As a fellow Vet who put off filing my issues with the VA because I thought I didn't deserve it or I didn't do enough to earn it. Brother, you do and you did do enough. I got off my ass and got to work filing everything when my buddy told me, "Do you want to fight the VA now while you're still relatively young? Or do you want to fight the VA in your 60s and 70s when every issue has gotten much worse?" I got out in 08. Spent 06 in Iraq. Only started filing and taking care of things with the VA a couple of years ago. It's worth it to take care of things now.

Your willingness to show the progression on learning a new species is awesome. I've always had a much easier time catching bass while preferring to catch catfish, so its something I have had to work at & learn too. I've seen you and the crew use just about everything but shad (I prefer gizzard shad for no real reason) to go after catfish, and its something I'd suggest you give a shot if you can find or catch some. Keep up the work man, its awesome to watch your stuff.

Hey Yak, and Family. That was really cool of you to give away all that stuff. Catching catfish is not near as hard as you think it is, they mostly are active at night, that's why you didn't have much luck. If you happen to try it again, go and get you spot before dusk and then wet your lines and let the bait soak. You will be hooking up with kitties before you know it. By the way the rod from that Zebco 606 combo is a great rod to put a baitcaster (or even a round reel on). If you ever get another one, try it out with one, I am sure that you will be surprised. ;) Anyway, keep up the good work, I look forward to seeing what you decide to try out next.

The only "Magic Bait' I ever had any luck on was grasshopper and blood flavor. Bluegill as cut bait works pretty good as well. 6/0 hooks minimum for cats too. I usually use 8/0 or 10/0. Great video!

Awesome video Yak 👍👍 Sac-a-lait is what I grew up calling crappie and those Norm caught would be good size to eat clean them then fried whole . I catch catfish at dusk and night I use the bass lures like a paddle worm or paddle fish .worms work at night too even shiners and small bluegill all work great another crazy secret that I seen lojo use is marshmallows maybe thats a new idea and btw when y'all coming up to NEPA (northeast Pa. ) you can fish by and pa here very easily

Hot dogs and chicken livers work. So do marshmallows. Got to go in the evening to just after dark. I know that’s not ideal with alligators but I’ve never had a catfish bite midday. Always has been right at sunset or at night.

@FishingWithYakPak This time of season they slow down a bit. I would suggest not fishing in current and not do much drift fishing like usual. You want to find slack water or cast closer to shore. You know like the slack side of a point or river bend. I also want to suggest to steer away from using red meats this time of year. If you want to use store bought baits than get you some shrimp or maybe cheese brick. Home made firm dough balls work great. I also like to use different scents and I don't use garlic this time of year I use baking extracts like vanilla, marshmallow, cinnamon, coffee or caramel. You can use extracts in spray bottles to spray baits or you can soak baits in them. A buddy of mine used to soak shrimp and crawfish in strong french vanilla or hazelnut coffee. Other options that work: squid large sardines imitation crab/lobster licorice candy Remember that if you use coffee when its hot it might soften bait too much so make sure its cold. Good luck on your catfish journey :) PS: I know I get it but pay lakes are not good and I don't support them unless its a classy place that cares for the fish.

You need catfish plastic nets th come with yellow or green sponges and trible hooks and buy stink bait in a tub jam that netin the goop till the net is full then set it in the water for 30 seconds let dry for 15 seconds then cast to the center of the river and wait you can set 2 of theses lures about a foot apart then your weight depends on the current but set that above the lure about 6-8 inches

Ok.... Zebco 33 is for everything from bluegills and sunfish to the bug flatheads. In fact the world record 123 pound flathead catfish is held on the zebco 33 combo.

Yo yakpak if you wanna catch some big catfish you should go to Choctawhatchee river someone caught a 120 pound blue catfish on a trot line and the state record was 69 pounds I’d use some mullet as bait your gonna need some beefy combos tho them big blue cats fight like a bath tub with a tail I love your videos tho bro💯💪
