Something I really like about this fight is how unlike when you fight him in Yakuza 4, Daigo's title card is his name and nothing else. Really goes to show how Shinada doesn't give a shit how high ranking Daigo is and only wants to get back his dream on his own.

I feel like it has to do not with Shinada not caring, but rather Daigo fighting him not as Tojo's Sixth Chairman but as a friend. The exact thing you describe actually happens with Munakata in 4, when Tanimura rejects his rank as Deputy Comissioner, and the title card lacks it as well.

Majima going from "Patriarch of the Majima Family" in 4 to just "Goro Majima" in 5 is kinda sweet if you apply that logic. In what he thinks might be their last fight together, Saejima sees Majima as just his brother, and nothing else.

AU-19 Admittedly yes, Shinada isn’t that great for crowd control but personally I think his emphasis on grabs and weapons kinda makes up for it

You don’t even need crowd control in Yakuza games. You have an evasion button and most of the time nobody attacks you while you’re in the middle of a one on one fight. He has I frames on his grabs too. His problem is the lack of damage and armor, which makes him get knocked out by regular punks. But I find him much more interesting than Saejima.

DragonKamran24 Saejima’s was actually my least favorite. His attacks hit hard but he ends up being so slow to manage well. And I just have a preference for faster playing characters

Alezarde yeah, but ultimately he’s the most OP character in the game for two reasons: His damage output and his armor, which prevents him from being interrupted or knocked down. They even gave him a counter, like why? He’s a mess. Kiryu’s also OP here for a sole reason, he has a grab infinite lol.

So this is coming really late on I know but looking at this fight has me thinking. Shinada takes his jacket off to show his strength, you know the whole 5000 swings and 1000 push ups but then Daigo does it too and I don’t think it’s just for the sake of it, the series has shown just because someone takes their jacket off doesn’t mean the other has to like with the first Kuze fight in 0 so I thought then that Daigo ripping his jacket off is like the ultimate sign of the respect he has for Shinada. In Daigos world, to keep his jacket on would be a sign of disrespect. Just a cool little mini analysis I was thinking of after thinking about the fight a bit

Daigo's losing streak mostly comes to down him fighting 2 out of 3 most OP characters in Yakuza (those being Kiryu, Goda and Saejima). Against Shinada he probably intentionally threw the fight so Shinada wouldn't kill himself from exhaustion; as already mentioned Daigo regains his breath sooner than him.

Okay so they messed up the translation of the subtitles, but at least they kept Shinada's insane training regimin and that Bop of a boss theme. P.S - The game was already released in the west, and they decided to re-translate it, but took alot of liberties and it seems weird to me, who played the original localization on PS3.
