So glad this was uploaded so quickly, Froob has been my favorite runner to watch since I saw him do Y6 at AGDQ 2021, and at that point i hadn't even played any Yakuza games! He's just so charismatic and knowledgable that you don't need to know the game to have fun. I was sad to miss this live as this is the first GDQ since i've gotten into playing the series myself, in big part thanks to the runs he's showcased in the past :^]

We’re heading down to GDQ today and am a little bummed that we missed this run live. Like A Dragon was my GOTY when it came out and is a top 3 JRPG of the console generation to me. Love to see it getting more exposure out here!

Kiryu is such a genuinely terrifying fight if you play this casually and are low level. In my first playthrough, he just blasted Ichi with an Uppercut and put him straight to sleep, all while shrugging off the punishment we'd tried to deal to him. It was amazing to have the Dragon return and hand out the business.

I was wondering if Eri was part of the run! She's a beast. Was also quite curious how you handle a particular late-game fight. I never died in the main game but there are a few battles where it got pretty dicey. I'm delighted to learn that the strategy is 'masochism' and 'rocket launchers'. I should have known.

For those of you out there interested in searching out the cool music mentioned in the speedrun to blast in your homes, here's a helpful list to search for on KZbin! If you're wondering why there's two names for most these, it's because although the game released in late 2020 in North America, RGG didn't release the soundtrack until Valentine's Day 2022. Either generic names were chosen for some or people made up accepted titles until we got the official ones. Some of them are as bonkers as Ichiban's imagination. Have fun! This game has been a much-needed breath of fresh air. I've missed turn-based rpg's and nobody really makes them anymore. I picked this up not knowing it was an rpg and it blew me away. I love how all the jobs are different gigs reformed yakuza work to get by but all their stuff has a dragon quest twist on it. It's too great.

Stick both the women in your party (kiryu won't hit female characters) and have them spam the champagne spray move as kiryu is weak to water moves. Also use the evasion buff on your other party members and you should make it through.

That's how it Should be, but the credits have a licensed song (with no other audio overlayed) so copyright detectors will flag it regardless. They probably decided it's more trouble than it's worth to risk having to fight any potential strikes
