The JCC is the only minigame here that got me gamer mad. Learning that it's pure RNG made it worse, even the button mashes scale with yours so you could have a turbo button and still lose if you get unlucky sucks. For completionist sake at least Shogi has the puzzles that count toward completion that you can grind out quickly and later games just give you an item that gives you a bot to play for you (even though it takes like 2 minutes per turn.) I think Mahjong has circled around for me where it was the most frustrating thing ever but after doing it for so long I enjoy it now (except for the times you have to go out with a specific hand.) Shout out to CyricZ for making the 100% achievements a lot easier.

Yakuza 5 still has the same fishing minigame from 3 and 4, but it’s a separate minigame from the “QTE”-type you see in Ishin and Zero. I remember this because one of Shinada’s Master/Trainer challenges is to catch a specific large fish to learn a new move. I legit spent at least 90 minutes with an elevated blood pressure trying to catch this particular fish. Don’t remember what fish it was or what move you got, I just remember it being one of those >100m fish and being relieved that it was over. In retrospect, I’m starting to understand Leon’s grievances with Y5 (because the 1h+ video wasn’t _quite_ enough to surpass my unconditional love for Shinader)

Only minigames i can think of that i think are frustrating mostly just because of in game 100% challenges that you didn't list would be stuff like Puyo Puyo because of the defeat all rivals challenge. The massage parlor in 3 & 4 because the challenges basically requires you to always be near the top and with how often the game fluctuates going up and down and with how easy it is to press mostly the button for it to go up too many times making it an instant game over and having to sit there until you can play again. The courtesan shootem up game in Ishin is another one most people wont complete mostly because of that final stage. Toylets in Kiwami 2 is annoying since some people find it hard to match their opponents stream and people on pc had to lower their fps to 30 to even have a chance at winning.

Forgot to mention SpikeOut from Infinite Wealth in game 100% list. The fact you have to do almost 2 full runs because you have to do all levels including the secret ones. The fact that you have to do that as both Ichiban and Kiryu for the full in game completion definitely makes it annoying.

In some older engines (along with the dragon engine) of Mahjong in Yakuza allows you to get away with it due to the completion list being based on how much currency you won overtime simply by using cheat engine just to reduce the time you're wasting while the Kiwami engines of Mahjong has to make you win in certain ways and how much currency you won over. Fuck the pool minigame with the controller at least the darts minigame from the newer and older engines are so much better as it goes on and it's more manageable to complete for the completion list.

Even the most fleshed out minigames and side content frequently have less secondary goals compared to mahjong it's crazy

I join with you on every game, except the Clinic Minigame that I haven't experienced yet (but it looks really sick, so I wouldn't include it there.) I think the issue with Mahjong isn't really how to learn the moves, but more about how the AI randomly gets Ultra Instinct and can go as far as double riichi pretty frequently while you're still trying to do your hand. For anything hostess and catfight related, except the Cabaret Club Czar, I really hate this: I mean, CCC handled it much better, with actual life-like conversations with platinum hostesses and fun Overcooked-style gameplay, then Yakuza 6 and Gaiden came out and it's now a .MOV fest with pre-registered uninteresting dialogues. I mean, i'm not expecting hostesses to be as well-written as most of Xenogears or FFX's characters, but there's a world between writing a plank of wood and a life-like character, and the worst is that they're more than able to do the latter. TL;DR the hostess minigames are annoying because the girls are absolutely shallow and uninteresting for the most part, and investing hours for even one hostess while you could play Karaoke is a crime (I'm giving this opinion as someone who platinum'd every mainline game at least once.) The catfight too has been very badly handled: as you said, if you could fight as one of the girls with a subset of moves, it'd be actually good. It's just the Fighter Maker minigame but with even more RNG and "sexy" ladies. The trophy for winning 10 tournaments made me cringe so hard by the end of it I wished to never do this minigame again... then I remember I still have 3 versions of Y0 to platinum. Man, why is this minigame not like the coliseum... Also I love Y3-5 fishing, except when I fish concrete barrels instead of tunas. I'd rather fish from La Seine if I wanted to fish corpses.

I feel like a lot of people's frustrations with Mahjong are actually caused by the game doing a shitty job at explaining how to win and letting players reach that point. (And also, the AI straight up cheating to have any chance against someone who knows what they are doing) And I think that a LOT of that frustration could be easily solved by simply having a prompt to go Riichi appear the moment you are actually able to do it, the same way prompts show up for Chi, Pon and Kan. I still don't understand why the option is behind an extra button press when most players barely know the controls of the minigame itself.

I don't mind all the extra content. I just hate and despise that I have to do literally ALL of it for the platinum trophy on Playstation

I think the other reason was because back then Mahjong was REQUIRED for 100% which I think stopped at around 6 or Judge Eyes.

i beat IW in 50 hours across like 4 months because of how burnt out i was after playing a single session of it i love the game, it's still a fantastic yakuza game with a great, solid ending but holy shit it makes yakuza 5 look average-sized in comparison (also the pacing of the story is Wack, capital W Wack)

I don't think you considered crafting a correct side activity for this video, but it's easily the most annoying and tedious part of every yakuza completion run I've had. Especially in 5, 0 and Ishin Kiwami. Oh, crafting in Ishin Kiwami, what a torture

I didn't like pocket circuit, because its pretty much hostess Club (not management) for boys. Its goofy seeing adults be so engaged in this seemingly childs game, but it doesnt change the fact that I had to use guide every single time.
@renotv38605 ай бұрын
Skill Issue Seriously, though, you really were just bad or impatient. Pocket Circuit is all about understanding the track and then building a car for that track. It's basically a puzzle game.
@Sarahm22615 ай бұрын
@renotv3860 yea I understand not wanting to engage with the mini game if it not your type of thing, but there a reason people like it cause it fun to figure the puzzle piece of each car part to beat the races.

Mr. Devilleon7, I really enjoy your Yakuza videos and style of that videos I rewatched your videos while gaming or trying to sleep. However, for the growth of your channel, I think branching out into other games like Resident Evil, Silent Hill, or any other games you're passionate about could be great. I know you're not just about Yakuza, so I'm looking forward to seeing something different from you.

Thank you so much for saying all that! I've been wanting to make videos like this but for other game series, I might consider it even moreso after seeing a comment like yours. Thank you again

I've seen other channels that focus on one series try to branch out to others and no one watched those videos so the creators were stuck doing the same thing for eternity. The creators that do The Sims content are the ones most stuck.
@merigold38495 ай бұрын
@@mihmo2663 I understand that Yakuza is his main focus, but trying out new content could attract more people to the channel. After all, Yakuza isn’t going anywhere, but only making content about Yakuza seems a bit restrictive from my perspective. I'm not saying Devilleon7 should stop making Yakuza videos he has a great editing style, and his videos are always entertaining to watch. But creating content about other games could help him reach a broader audience and break away from the Yakuza-guy persona just a thought i'm just a normal person looking at it from a viewer's perspective, so maybe you're right.

As someone who completed almost all of RGGS games (except IW which i had not bought it) I definitely has some opinions about these mini games. Of course if i were to comment on ALL the minigames, it would need to print out a book. These mini games are ones that i ENJOYED mostly. Mahjong - I am fortunate enough to learn how to play this game WAY before playing the Yakuza games. The RNG on mahjong can be as vile. There was once the round just start and one of the AI declare richi. And there was once all 3 AI declare richii all at same time. So i can understand why some Yakuza fans hated mahjong with a passion. JCC - Hot sweaty ladies fighting in their lingeries?? What's not to love? I understand it is purely RNG. But mostly, i just choose the blonde or stewardess and that's it. Gambling games - win big and if you lose, just reload the game? One of my fav is Oicho Kabu using 10-10-1 item. Golf - Just gonna describe the remaster Y3-5. Somehow i felt the controls in Y3 is the best among Y3-5. But this is just my opinion. The later games such as 7, LJ are the best of course.

It kinda upsets me to a small degree to see the disparity in minigame reception, but I can't claim to be perfect and love every minigame ever as I just dislike most of - if not every arcade game in every installment I've played thus far. But specifically mahjong which is the most brought up one, I have an assumption that people don't actually try to learn it properly because of the whole "rah I hate mahjong rah" take online. I got three of my buddies to launch up yakuza 0 so we could play mahjong against each other and it was genuinely very fun - AND they actually started learning how to play the game, two of them admitted that their understanding was leaning them towards enjoying the time. I learned mahjong in premium adventure of yakuza 0 (my first title) and have looked forward to dropping by a parlour in every game since, to either try to make some wacky hands or just rake in 6 digits worth yen. Though for pure money gain nothing beats Koi Koi.

The Paradive VR (both in Judgement and Lost Judegemt, probably worse in the latter) and the Roboitcs club in Lost Judgment. The first one makes me feel physically sick after some time, the 2nd one made me so angry that I just used a trainer to skip it. Disco is an odd one because the whole setting is great and the game seems easy on lower difficulty rivals, but it gets way too hard and the timing feels off. The old hostess ones are just rather boring than hard, same as the fighter trainer side activity in 4. Mahjong is mahjong, just give me cheat items or leave me alone with it.
