those are still Great Machines, Dudes. I remember the Sound & Sight of brand new 350 Banshees, 200 Blasters & Honda 250X. I got (still have) an ‘86 FourTrax 250 when I was Eleven. it was my wheels & took me everywhere. i put a ball hitch on it to pull a Scanoe on a trailer to hit lakes, swamps, ponds & rivers with my BFF on the back. It was a great machine too, but I was always jealous of the Honda 250X my other BFF had, the 200 Blaster that a school mate had, the 350 Banshee my GF’s brother had & of course the Infamous 500 Quadzilla. We’d trade out our wheels to ride for a few miles & enjoy each other’s machines on days that riding was out only task...those were the freaking days. After riding the zippy 2-strokes & 250X 4-stroke, I felt proud & comfortable, when I was back on my FourTrax 250. They were all Great for their Own Reasons, so This Video Upload took me way, way back to those Glorious Days of being a pre-teen, only needing gasoline. The Blaster was a Super Sweet Ride, too. I need to get one of the old 2-strokers & fix up, repair or restore it enough to Perform & Look awesome. The late ‘80s & early ‘90s Quads really Hit the Mark & this video is a Testament to their BadAssNous. Thanks for Posting, but Screw You Both for Making My Wallet Quiver & for the Fear of My Wife’s Tongue Lashing that I’ll Receive after Purchasing an Un-Needed 20+-year-old Quad! I Do Hope that Y’all Keep’em Running & Visible for us Out Here to Enjoy. They’re Just So Cool. That 500 Still Brings Wild & Ominous Feelings to Me of the Adrenaline Rush I’d Get after Nailing Doubles & Triples at Private Tracks...It’s THE ONE that Nearly Every Quad Enthusiast Still Holds I’m High, High, Very High Regard. BadAss, Dudes...just BadAss!

When I was 13 years old I got a brand new 1987 Honda 250X. Was my first 4 wheeler. When it was new it was pretty strong. It would lift the front end through 1st and 2nd. I ragged it out though and near the end it had no power anymore.

I have had both the Banshee and the Zilla and the banshee will hang until 4th gear then the big 500 always walks away. Banshee power is much trickier to drag race because of a narrow power band so rider skill has a big influence on it. The Zilla is like a tractor and pulls hard even if shifts aren’t perfect.

We rode together for YEARS. FYI my friend Jim Davis has an 85 ATC 250r (3-wheeler) and that would hang with us All day The Banshee has a more usable powerband as well. Maybe between you and your buddy, but the rest of the world remembers it differently, including DirtWheels who did a very unbiased and controlled (same air pressure in tires, several runs with different riders on the same day, letting them cool down between races, etc) high speed drag race on asphalt between the Zilla, Banshee, Tecate 4, Quadracer 250, and 250R (and a Mojave just to throw in a 4 stroke.) That was in the late 80's. It pretty much disproved everything you stated, especially the usable powerband comment. The zilla has power down low all the way up through the high end. The Banshee has nothing down low until it gets to it's powerband (Aka, very un-usable.) Ride a zilla sometime and you'll understand. Get it rolling in about 3rd gear barely above idling and just roll on the throttle. It will get up and go almost immediately! On a Banshee, it would take 2nd-4th to do what the zilla will do in that single gear. In fact, a Banshee will fall on it's face just trying to let it idle in 3rd gear, and it would take an entire block to hit it's powerband if you didn't shift down or clutch it and rev and dump it. I've ridden a brand new Banshee with no mods, and that is exactly what happens. The guy who owned the Banshee had it out on it's maiden voyage at Little Sahara in OK, and let me ride it, and he swung a leg over my stock zilla and took it for a spin. When we got back, his exact words were, "Holy s#&%! This thing has power everywhere!" I told him his Banshee was nice, but I was far from impressed. I had to shift constantly up and down the dunes to keep the RPM's up, or it would fall on it's face.

I've been riding since I was 4 years old and now 44. I have never liked nerf bars for back woods trail riding always get in way. Ie..pop up front to go over a big tree 30" or so. Rocks ect....always get them hung up. Or hitting objects, I'm sure great for some. I currently ride a modified raptor 700r it's been stroked, efi controller freed up air intake and exhaust, high compression piston plus many others. 16t front and 34t rear 23" tires front and 22" rear. It goes into the tripple digits on top end. I can crack the throttle pull it up at 75mph in 4th shift into 5th and goes too fast for tire ratings. Those are extremely great machine's you have to get gobs of hp to the ground. Both the banshee and quadzilla are both awesome machines. Dirtwheels magazine did a turbo banshee and efi on another. Turbo went from 35hp at rear wheels to 115. The efi version with pipe went from 35 into the 60's hp. Tons of hp hiding in both of your machines

@@BM205 I have friends that race, but it's a completely different set up. Yes if you race I'd recommend nerf bars. But, quads set up for the track don't usually do to good in the back woods around here. You need more tire to the ground and ground clearance like no other. VS a lower stance for corning on a track.

They are quite a bit slower than both of these quads. Back in the 80's, DirtWheels did an asphault drag race of all of the fastest stock ATV's back then testing overall top speed and quickness. It was a very unbiased test as they controlled nearly all of the variables, even making sure every quad had the same air pressure in the tires, and all had stock gearing. Of the 250 2 strokes, the Kawasaki T4 was the fastest coming in just a few mph slower than the Banshee, and the Banshee was a couple mph behind the zilla. Suzuki LT250R was next after the T4, and the Honda 250R was the slowest among the 2 strokes. They threw in a 4 stroke Kawi Mohave just for kicks. Obviously it came in last. All of the quads had their best times when starting in 2nd gear, except for the T4. It was best starting in 1st gear.

@@Toxic2T Yes, 2 stroke dirbikes are a different animal. They are just so incredibly light. Their engines also typically have a lighter flywheel and don't have a counter balancer which allows them to rev faster and attain higher HP numbers while sacrificing some of low end torque that ATV's need. The Zilla is the fastest ATV ever produced, but I'm sure a CR250 would give a zilla a hard time and would probably beat it in acceleration, and only slightly lose in top speed. And a CR500, forget about it! Game over.

97, last year of the steelie. I had a 125 same year, awesome little bike. Toted my 280lb ass like a champ, and somehow even still never lost toy scrawny cousin on his yz even with like 80lbs less. Trails, mud, everything, showed up big jacked up 4wd's in the mud. Always wanted a 250/500, still got my old 99 400ex. Gonna have to tear it down to the frame one of these days. Rode that bitch into the ground. It was the same way, even took some 450's down and she'd hang right there with the ones she didn't. And didn't even have to do much to it. But warriors never stood a chance, couldn't even catch it on top end. That and my foreman, still remember passing my buddy on his warrior up over his head at LBL. Heavy girl would still FLY! But it ain't quite stock... Clean the carb, and it'd still fire. The 400 is trashed top to bottom. Cracked a arm, carrier bearings are gone, stem bent all to hell, piston and clutch are both fried. But damn did she make me proud. Finally just didn't really have anything left to give. I'll get her stripped one of these days and finally get the displacement up and do some chassis work. Needs literally EVERYTHING anyway. It's an absolute wonder it stayed together as long as it did. The a arm was cracked from wrapping it around the ONLY tree within a mile for the last like 4 years it was going. Carrier went out again as the clutch finally went, been needing rings at least for a while and the stem had damn near always been a little tweaked after one of my first good wrecks on it. Then one real good one really bent it there toward the end. I'd straighten it out and run it some more, but it got weak. Least little thing would bend it.

They're both amazing and powerful machines. I've always loved that man look the banshee gives off, and ever since I had an Lt250r I've always wanted it's big brother. The only downside is the size and weight so my goal is to buy a 500zilla motor and drop it into an Lt250r frame and make a hybrid because they're lighter and smaller. The engine fits, but you gotta rig it up and they're bad to the bone. I plan on buying a 250r of all the three models, TRX250, Tecate250, and another 1990 or 86 Lt250, then a Banshee, and a Lt500 quadzilla. The 1986 Lt250r has a lot of low end power, but the 1990 has 6 a speed gear box, and on mine that I use to drag it was so fast I couldn't even get it into 6th because there wasn't any stretches of land long enough to do it. Right now I have a Polaris Outlaw 525s and I've only ridden it in the snow in my neighborhood and I can't wait to get it out in the dirt and I'm the trails, then the Colorado dunes and drag it. From what I've seen and heard that Outlaw will beat everything except a built Banshee or built zilla. Is it true? Idk. I've seen videos of it being true, but I myself in person have never witnessed it.

I love these videos, reliving my earlier years. Roll back to 1987ish. My cousins had Honda 250's so I wanted to get a quad. There was a Zuk dealer down the street from my job so I went at lunch one day. The sales guy wouldnt sell me a Zilla as "They were too fast". It was then I knew I had to have one. The next day I went to a dealer in a neighboring town and was able to buy one. At that same time my cousin sold his Honda and bought a Banshee. We spent all our time lining those two beasts up, sometimes I would get him, sometimes he would get me, the Zilla is a beast for sure but the lower CC Banshee isnt ajoke either. Now that I am older if an opportunity came to buy a nice stockish Zilla I May do it
