Keep it!!!!!! Not every day you stumble upon a clean machine like that. it can be your rig to ride with your buddy or just around the lot. It's a reliable machine. Again..KEEP IT As for the big bear, clean it out, run another oil change through it and drive it till something happens. You can always sell it for $400 to someone that needs a parts machine.

Love this format of videos- purchase a used cheap machine off marketplace- you figure out what is wrong with it and then get it running with parts machines that you already have. Then make some videos with it and then you can sell it and have all the repairs documented. I know that you are saying that you wouldnt sell the big bear because you didnt 100% go through it- but alot of people would still buy it. You get some content and you put some more wheelers back on the trails

I say with your skill level just pull it apart in your spare time to make it run right.its cake to you that alot of people would pay alot or take 3 times longer than it normally takes you to fix yourselves.unless you think you can make that off of it in parts in the long run.because in the long run you might start selling parts off and its your money in the bank. The only thing I got rid of was a Yamaha big wheel and I'm kicking myself for that
@Seriousbird14 күн бұрын
Holy shavings! The timing chain is "new" so thats something to consider but i had a new timing chain and the oil did get sparkly for the break in but thats a whole deposit you're working with!
@rockspowersports13 күн бұрын
@@Seriousbird I’m guessing the old piston may have broke a skirt, and there definitely was some wear on the cam/ rockers so that probably contributed to the amount of debris.. to be honest I’ve never pulled a filter off and seen that many shavings on a running engine!
@johnboy210314 күн бұрын
You can still keep a lot of machines you have the room and the perfect place for it
@michaelhinkle664814 күн бұрын
Run it Rock. Those engines are bulletproof so to speak. There wasn't any up and down play on the connections rod when you took the piston off so I'd say the bottom end is fine.

I’d change the filter and oil, run it for awhile, and then pull the filter back out, that would at least tell you if it’s an existing issue or maybe the metal debris came before the last rebuild and they never changed the filter on it.

Throw fresh oil in and new filter. Run it a bit and pull the filter and see if there is any new shavings. Do you have any side panels for a 2003 Suzuki Eiger 400 manual that is less than 100 for both sides? Mine is a Forest Service retired green one. But they lost the covers for it when they scrapped them. It was in great shape never bashed on it. But all I did was change the oil and cleaned the carb and with a fresh battery and tires it runs like it was never neglected at all. New seat cover too. I don't know if that was a full restore or just a few tune up items?

Since you only have $400 into it....and you have 50 other machines ..😂 I'd set it up so it drains fast as possible. Make up a diesel/ trans 50/50 mix and poor it down the head and flush it with compressed air afterwards. Button it up and add fresh oil. Ride it... check oil filter after an hour or easy riding.

Run it, the damage is already done. Keep an eye out for another engine. That is why I would never buy a used quad, new is expensive for sure but at least with a bit of care and little abuse they should last a good long time. That said I am aware not every one can afford new but I do think its cheaper in the long run.

Good job selling it off! you're really just buying stuff to make content, in they come, and out they go! (Fix up that Grizzly 660 for a trail machine) I'd strip the motor down, it'll make good content, still a ton of air cooled Yamaha's out there that people are looking for tear down videos. That is a ton of material, I can't see a worn cylinder, overbore, making that much, where the hell did it all come from? If you run it, and its like bearing or crank or trans, it could catastrophicaly fail, especially in the middle of a trail ride, no thanks. Pull it open! my mouth was hanging open when I saw what was in the filter housing, wowzers!!
