My brother ran the water before starting the engine by error and the engine won’t start. What should we do restart the engine

Pull the plugs, hold the throttle wide open and crank it over to get the water out.

You probably have water in the cylinders. When the engine isn't running the shore hose water pressure can backfeed into the exhaust & fill the cylinders. Do NOT turn the key or you will hydrolock the engine & break pistol rods. 1.) Pull the plugs out 2.) Pull the lanyard to prevent ECM damage 3.) Turn key to run starter until and the water is out of the cylinders

Yes, run engines hot then check oil while hot.

@@JetBoatPilot the answer is still vague, in that it doesn't specifically say yes while running or not. I thought the users manual specified 15 sec. after hot shutdown.

@@AnthonyRivieccio follow the user's manual. We're sharing our own experience with viewers and have not measured the elapsed timed from shutdown to inspection of the dipstick.

2 or 3 minutes isn't enough time to heat the oil.. You won't get accurate results.

You don't want to heat the oil you just want the oil to flow through the engine and return to the reservoir. It really takes less than 10 seconds till the oil starts flowing back to the reservoir.
