Thanks for explaining everything in detail. Nice to know that the only real significant changes in mixing/studio are the options, features available at a lower cost and the implicating computers and interfaces into the workflow. Tough time choosing between the Mackie ProFX10v3 and the MG10UX, but the effects parameter knob was the thing that pushed me toward the Yamaha. Also, I REALLY like the compressor circuit. Sounds and feels like a real compressor, as opposed to just being a limiting tool. Only thing I'm left wanting is Mute buttons. MG12UX is a likely future purchase!

Hey great video. I would love to hear some long sustained notes on some of the effects - I think it would make more sense, like in say flanger-. I know you did hold on to some notes on some cases, just not on every effect. Anyway, many thanks for the video AND the channel. I have not come across any video of the yamaha or mackie consoles that come with faders. I realise that faders are susceptible to damage - is this why you do not buy/use these mixers in your business, or is it simply an issue of the elevated price range? From what I understand you rent out audio gear, so I assume the main concern would be to have gear that performs well overtime. Anyway, would be interested to see reviews of gear that has faders on, rather than just knobs.

2 questions please… 1. Can you add more than 1 of those effects on at a time? Like say reverb + delay? 2. Can select which channels have what effects? Like is it effects on or off per channel, or can you choose what effects are on what channel, or is it all channels have the same effect or nothing? Like say I want reverb on the mic channel but not on the guitar channel? Is that possible?

Hello, Kettner, a question here. Yamaha MG10XU is better than Scarlett Solo 3rd gen in terms of sound? I found the scarlett to be way too rudimentary, I mainly want to use a mixer or interface for voice acting and light singing, so my only concern regarding Yamaha MG10XU is if the sound is at least equal or better than scarlett solo 3rd gen. Also, do you think Yamaha MG10XU is at the same level / better/ worse than Soundcraft Notepad-8FX?

Hi Jordan, your videos are super helpful and helping me a lot to decide what mixer I should get. I am a singer and want to record songs from home. I am leaning towards the Mackie ProFx6v3. I do not want to invest in a pedal just for the harmony which is really useful. Is there any mixer that has the basic harmony effect?
@kettnercreative2 жыл бұрын
Not that I know of. Especially with an analog mixer.
@glueball95112 жыл бұрын
analog chorus is something that might cost as much as the mixer itself. i just spent 150 for an analogue ebs chorus unit and i was very happy with that price. pedals are very cheap these days tho, so if you were really hell bent on a harmonizer (obviously you can harmonize w urself using the mixer anyways, but its definately 2 different things) you could probably find a quit reasonable pedal that funcitons well for between 50 and little over 100 bucks

I just got one of these cuz I love my Yamaha mixer, EMX212s. But the same mic with the same cable has considerably lower audio quality. Sounds good on the Old one but this new one it sounds pretty crappy. Is it because it's a digital USB signal? Is that possible? The old one is analog and the new one is digital. I'm just wondering if my unit is defective. Also i have a condenser mic that doesn't even work on the New yamaha , with the phantom power on of course. Better late than never. If you want better quality, go with Yamaha. The Mackie brand was bought out by a venture capitalist firm and they are using subpar factories and cheaper components. You are lucky if you get a good Mackie board these days, even read about a lawsuit from a few people and Mackie ignored it. I wouldn’t support a venture capitalist company just trying to make a quick buck before dumping the brand on the next sucker investor.

There is a knob called "fx send" on each channel, so if you twist that knob to the right the signal gets sent to the fx. If you leave it alone the signal won't get sent to the effect. So yes, you can have fx only on one channel (the mic) and not the whole mix.
