Yamaha MM6 Keyboard LCD Screen Replacement

Just a short video on how I replaced the LCD screen on my Yamaha MM6 keyboard. Be careful, the LCD screen for Yamaha PSR-S550 WILL NOT FIT the MM6! Part number from Yahama is WU967500. Be sure to compare the backs of each unit. Hope this helps somebody.

It's a very easy fix, provided that the ribbon is properly removed without breaking the connector.

so many screen problems with the mm6.. mine works from time to time, then become blank.. sometimes works half.. but good job replacing it!

How do you disconnect the ribbons

The piece of scotch tape do not attach the ribbon,it merely secures the ribbon to the body of back of the display a piece of tape that is easily removed to repair/replace the display.Not a problem.

The LCD ribbon coming loose should be faulted by the connector, not the scotch tape. It is not easy to remove the ribbon without disconnecting it from its connector

My keyboard yamaha MM6 of nowhere I started to have a very weak, distorted sound ... in every pianos, organs, strings etc, only works well com very low volume, i´m trying to fix it, and check everything, and everything inside is fine, only his great sound does not return, you have a solution?

Hey my MM6 screen broke. The backlight still comes on but no data on screen. Sound still come sout and all the features still work, but just no data on the LCD showing voices, patterns, etc... i found HDM3224L-G screen for $10 on ebay but not sure if it just a simple solder could fix.

@@olazabalwikstrom I have not. I really dont need the screen as Im not doing anything live with the keyboard. Ive had the keyboard for so long I kinda know where which patches are and memorized how the UI works to an extent without the screen. Thing is I generally use it as a midi controller now. TO replace screen I know theres fair amount of soldering involved and its still a gamble if it will actually work. Still probably a fun project if you got the time and youre really only out $10.
