Blake that was awesome. Best walkthrough for the Motif yet. Still, a window on one side of the screen showing the display of the Motif XF would be good also.

The older Motif XS has the same Cubase integration using the Motif XS Editor VST. User interface is the same, except for the color scheme. Using the Motif as a hardware VST takes a lot of the load off your CPU. The Motif XS/XF can render up to 16 MIDI channels simultaneously, but you are limited to 16 audio returns (8 stereo pairs). If you reach that limit, you can simply freeze some of those audio tracks in Cubase and keep going.

Thanks for this awesome video. 8 years, and it's still so useful. I actually HAVE an XF8. But for the LIFE of me, I CANNOT understand how to connect it to my Macbook Pro laptops. I'm using the USB. I didn't know that it was setup for ease of use via Cubase, as that's not my DAW of choice. I use Studio One 5 Professional. But I CAN'T get the two together... I'm so frustrated. So much so, that I've only got about 2 hours of total play on the XF8. It's virtually brand new. Is there ANYONE that can help me get this figured out? My two laptops have Thunderbolt capability as well. Thanks in advance.

Motorized faders would have been nice (if they're not currently?) also the flash memory could be bigger, 2GB is that enough? In addition it would be nice if the flash memory was in a cartridge that plugged in the back instead of a circuit board, that would be a lot handier for plugging into that rental Motif. Awesome piece of kit though regardless.

@TonyosBaby I think it comes with Cubase AI, which is a minimally-featured version of Cubase.

really this is new...I thot this had been possible for years on the xs...was thinking I might get the xs since I havent used a workstation & probably wouldnt utilize many of the features on the xf..

Is it possible to switch Octaves in Program (For Example: I want to play BASS in my right hand in the upper register of the keyboard and play brass in the lower register (?))

I must change Scene 1-5 via external midi controller FCB1010 I’m pulling my hair out. How do you scene 1-5 on FCB1010 switch 1-5? Where is the SYSEX for that?

okay i'm skipping thru this and not heard a single synth note played yet!...adjusting the filter, resonance, EQ...but he didn't audition the change!!!!
