A great review, and as an old git who started riding in 1975, it made me laugh when you said this 77bhp bike was good for beginners. It may well be today, but I remember the days when machines like the Kawasaki Z900 or the Laverda Jota produced similar power and were definitely not learner bikes! It's funny how time's change. I rode around Europe on a Yamaha RS125DX back in the day, and met a pair of adventurous souls doing the same thing two up on Yamaha FS1E moped. You can tour on anything if you want to. As long as you're having fun I don't think it matters what size the engine is. You are on a bike, enjoying life, and that's all that matters.

I've had one of these since brand new have almost 18,000 km on it, best bike I've ever owned and so fun to ride, that torque 👌👌👌 no issues whatsoever, new tyres at 17,500km, changed screen to bigger Yamaha one, rear yamaha top case and it's the perfect little tourer and weekend blaster 👍👍👍

I think it’s even closer in competition with the Versys than the V Strom .

Where have you been Mr. Pulling? You've been missed. Welcome back, your reviews are always worth watching, even if they lack much criticism.........You seem to like just about everything. But then again, most bikes are pretty damn good these days.

I think you hit the nail on the head, all bikes are good these days as are cars. The days of unreliability and poor finish are gone thankfully. Mark always gives a good detailed review with no BS.

11:54 I have an identical model (had it for almost 4 years) and my spins vary from around 250 miles to well over 400 (in a day). I'm 5' 10", and can sit for miles on end at 80mph +, and it feels as though I'm in a still pocket of air...no buffeting, no blast on my head or shoulders etc., and that's with the screen in its lowest position. I can get off the bike after 100+ miles of motorway, and my neck is completely relaxed. So I don't understand how some people can complain about the screen. In over 40 years of riding all sorts of bikes (apart from poncey tourers or Harley type rubbish) I've never had a bike with such excellent wind protection. Ok, most of my riding has been on large naked bikes, like Bandit 1200s etc (with some v-twin 1000s too), so I haven't been spoilt, but even still, this little bike is amazing!

Another great review, love your work. Only one thing I would change about all the reviews is if you could show us how the engines sound like :)
@DavidAnderson-pr1ru5 жыл бұрын
Torque! Adjustable screen, CP2 engine, cross plane crank with 270 degree firing angle, torque, sounds more like a v twin, fuel capacity, wheel sizes, tyres, handling, budget suspension, handguards, 2 up, fit and finish and did I mention torque?

A cracking bike. I went on a tour across Europe and down to Austria last June, there was a group of 10 bikes and one guy on one of these, it was by far the smallest bike there. But he had no trouble keeping up, in fact I'd say he was probably one of the quickest and almost always at the front of the group. As they say, it's not what you ride but how you ride it! 😁

I had one for a year, and these are fantastic bikes, I toured Spain and Scotland no problem, they have plenty of power for real life riding. I got over 220 miles from a tankful when touring. Cheap suspension lets it down and the screen is poor, but it’s easily fixed. Buy a secondhand one. I changed to the tracer 900 GT for the cruise control and quichshifter. Nice review but its nice to have a winner between bikes.😁😁

How did you find the screen. Was it noisy or just failed to give protection. I fancy the protection from a screen but don’t want disturbed airflow round head. Do you think I’d be better off with naked MT07?.
@duncanblanchard3343 жыл бұрын
@@beverleynorth4914 Hi, every screen I’ve ever had was noisy and created some buffering, your choice depends on what you use the bike for. I removed the entire screen off my 900 GT and put a tiny screen on instead and now prefer it. MT07 is a cracking bike.
@Antimortem5 жыл бұрын
Everyone compares this to the 900.why? The price difference?115hp? They're both different bikes. The700 has an audience of its own.For me the triple is like the four, and i don't like it in a motorcycle. Better use in a car.More than 2 cylinders will not be practical.vstrom gets 35/45kmpl efficient engine,and the best twin engine is the CP2. Now if you're looking at versys, it's 180 crank engine is just like cb500x, Harsh running. The vstrom is good no faults. The f750gs bmw has similar 270 crank smoothe engine but bmw has a set of problems in their policies and reliability. If anyone wants a middleweight all purpose comfy motorcycle,you have to check tracer700 and the vstrom

Good review again and you had the same impressions as me. Surprised you didn't notice the bunched, cheap switch clusters or the stiffness of the suspension, which rattled my teeth over bad roads, though. Lots of reports of early corrosion, but over than these gripes it rides lovely and the engine is a peach.
@markpulling125 жыл бұрын
Hi Joe ,I didn't really notice the suspension because I probably wasn't really on it for long enough ,but yes I have heard of some owners complaining about the suspension ,but overall a great bike ,thanks for the comments. All the best mark

Just stumbled on your reviews Mark and I have to say they're brilliant! For one thing I live in the area and know these roads well so they're all familiar. Secondly I'm looking to downsize from my Superduke to a slower (less likely to be jailed..) , more practical but still fun bike and you appear to have tested every single one I was thinking about! Keep up the good work!

I noticed the review of the V-strom got 2x as many views. I'm looking at this, the NC 750 X(amazing fuel consumption). Like the idea of the Tracer engine and the V-strom 650 XT with tubeless spoked wheels. Just read the rear cylinder starves oil if wheelied or running low on oil and can seize up. From a reliability point of view I reckon the Tracer and NC might be the winners, even though well looked after V-stroms last a long time to. The NC is renowned in some forums for having a weak clutch. Older Vstroms rectifier / charging issues / bad ground wires, etc. My brain is telling me the NC is best for a commuter. My current XT660Z is doing 90% highway commuting and I feel I'm riding it a bit hard when in a rush on the highway, even though the motor can do 140 km/h comfortably, it's revving over 5000rpm which makes the low revving NC tempting. I do like to lift the front wheel on occasion, but hear the handling and suspension is better on the Versys. As I'm a full time rider it's not easy to decide. Been looking at the XT1200 which would be great for longer trips which I would need once a year perhaps at least. But more maintenance intensive also from valve perspective, but would be great for 2000+ km type trip. Which I don't see myself doing easily anymore on the single cylinder 660 engines for those times when you want to make up some time and just get to your destination. From a maintenance perspective the NC seems easiest as the easiest adjustable valves with tappet adjustment as I do my own maintenance. The low center of gravity and Honda Jazz engine DNA is also attractive from reliability point of view which is one of the most important things for me as breaking down in my country with high crime can cost your life. The Versys (650) is going for good price used in my country though and seems like it might not be a bad idea. The Tracer rear handles are open somehow and won't be ideal to tie something down. Major thing about the NC that puts me off is the tank under the seat for when loaded that would be a nightmare to unpack and small fuel tank. Overall the Vstrom seems more versatile and comfortable just wanted to move away from the top heavy nature of the XT660Z as a 5.9 rider I've dropped it many times and not easy when you can't flat foot it, especially on rough terrain. The Tracer most fun. The NC best for fuel efficiency and daily commuting and the Versys a nice road orientated option with good handling and suspension compared to some others. Bought the XTZ for the occasional gravel trip with friends too, but having to commute with it has shifted my needs. Perhaps the Vstrom can still fill that gap better than the other options. The easy valve adjustment on the NC and fuel consumption is just a strong factor at the moment as I can do with saving every sent doing unpaid audition type gigs and training often where I get no income from it. What to choose, what to choose.

@1:26, you say that you are nearly flatting the feet but on the v strom you said you are tippy toing. The bikes having the same seat height (835 mm), is this difference coming from the fact that the strom seat is wider ? or ....

Hmm, does this thing have TC? Can not believe how much cheaper a second hand one is than a vstrom 650, for example 2017 model of vstrom I am finding them for 5.9k++ the tracer finding some of them as low as 4.5k. P.S. Would you say it feels lighter than the vstrom, at stops and low speeds? p.s.s which bike would u say has a more commanding position on the road vstrom or tracer. Cheers mate

Traded in my CB500x for a Tracer 700 a month ago. The Honda had a comfier suspension, easy to ride. Engine vibration at around 103 km/h indicated. In sixth gear I found the sweet spot to be 120-125 km/h indicated. Really enjiyed that bile. Like my Tracer even more, like a Cb500x with stiffer suspension, comfier seat and a lot more pull.

Hi Enjoy your videos and looking for a bit of advice. I’m 6 foot tall and looking for a roomy 1st bike. I’m only going to be pottering about not going fast, ie over 70/80 mph. Trying to decide whether to go with Tracer or naked MT07. I fancy Tracer cos of screen. However I read various reports that screens increase turbulence . How did you find screen. Basically I would like some protection but don’t want a screen that makes things worse and buffets my head. Would I be better with no screen where air flow is clean
@markpulling123 жыл бұрын
Hi Beverly ....yes your right ...screens can cause turbulence but generally on the whole you get more protection than a naked bike ...I've never experienced bad issues with screens on bikes and I've probably ridden over 100 bikes The tracer 700 is great but personally I'd go for a versys 650 because I find them more comfortable Good luck with your choice Regards mark

I could ride it all day every day at 100mph if I wanted. I normally cruise around 85mph, wind or no wind. If they brought this to the states, I'd trade my FZ and my big 1700 cruiser in for it.
