2017 Yamaha MT-07 Tracer (Tracer 700) Long Term Bike Review

We do not get The Tracer in the USA. Would you still recommend the FZ07 MT-07 for a 6 foot 196 lb rider or is something else better suited for light weight nimble bike? Would I have to upgrade the suspension?

The FZ-07 (MT-07) was still a popular choice at the launch, a few years ago even with the taller journalists, but it won't be as spacious as the Tracer. It's an exceptional all-rounder however, with nicely balanced suspension for a range of riders, it depends on your expectations. For relatively non-adjustable suspension it's very good, and the newer (2018) FZ/MT-07s should have even better suspension.

I'd recommend going and riding it for yourself. I have owned a 2015 FZ07 since September 2014. Almost 30k miles on it. Only time I had it in the shop was to replace a fork seal around the 20k mile mark(warranty FTW). I am 6'3" @ 240lbs. I love it. Plenty of power for my big frame. I have done a couple 6 hour one way camping trips on it to experiment, and it handled just fine. I did catch a lot of wind though, and it did wear me out a bit, but the bike never missed a beat running 80mph the whole time. Do I feel cramped on it? I have on the rare occasion, but overall, no. If the Tracer 700 comes to the states, I will be trading my FZ in for it. I also own a big cruiser that I camp on most the time, but it's not as fun.

Hey Charlie, I think the MT-07 Tracer would edge out the V-Strom for me if I wasn't considering the difference in price, however the V-Strom is a fair bit cheaper. They are both exceptional, but for a road bike only and with the standard panniers I'd probably go the Tracer.

Horses for courses ... the V Strom is a dual purpose with some off road ability whereas the Tracer is a sports tourer ... I like 'em both for different reasons !

Definitely. I couldn't live with the V-Strom display. Very dated.

@@simonthomas5367 Yes but it's much clearer than the Tracer's, with nice red needle and big digits. Backlight is also superb on the Vstrom. Just saying.

Até o momento não entendi o porque que a Yamaha não trouxe essa moto pro Brasil.Fique muito decepcionado quando não a vi em lançamento no Salão Duas Rodas.

Acredito que para não concorrer com a Teneré 660 mas agora que a Teneré saiu de linha as motos com motores da nova geração (07/09) terão um espaço definitivo.

Fueling on the MT-07 powerplant is pretty smooth. Are you thinking the MT-09 triple in the Tracer 900? That triple can be snatchy in A-mode.
