I own this bike for almost a year and made over 12k km so far on it. I'm not a traveller guy, my longest trip was 350km. It's my first 'serious' bike after a season spent on a MT-125. Compared to the naked MT bikes (I had a test drive on MT-07 before decided to buy Tracer), mirrors positioning is great. It's the only bike I've been riding which provides you so good view. Also this has impact on traffic filtering abilities - your mirrors go above car mirrors, but you must be careful when jumping in between SUVs or Vans. Default tail fender looks much better if you put a genuine Yamaha's top case fitting system, which makes it less protrusive. I had to replace the windshield - it's terrible in a long term use. The only acceptable position was the lowest one, because each other causes turbulences and incredible noise in the helmet. Rest of the wind protection is great, fairings do their work!

I wonder,can this be a beginner bike?
@ItIsMyRide5 жыл бұрын
Erdem Kucuk In my humble opinion - it can be. Throttle reaction is predictable and linear. I didn’t ride any other bikes with more than one cylinder for longer than just a test drive at dealership, but for me engine breaking and low rpm throttle peak makes this bike a little bit difficult to ride on tight hairpins. Although due to lack of comparison and skills (I consider myself as a beginner biker), I cannot say if this is matter of a CP2 engine or the capacity. Maybe 4 cylinders 650 would be even harder to control? It’s awesome bike, one of the cheapest and lightest touring bike on the (Central European) market. The engine gives me a lot of fun even at low speed.

Don't you just love the 270° crank on that baby? I wish they made an MT-07F, like a normal MT-07 but with sportbike fairings. That would be the one thing Yamaha needs to do to fill that hole in their market :D

I actually came to your channel after seeing your Tracer article in Bike SA mag..... good writing btw. I’m in the market for a new bike and the Tracer 700 has been on my radar but there are none to test ride in Cape Town. I loved the KTM 790 Duke and that quick shifter is awesome but it’s a bit pricey. One thing I’ve heard about the Yamaha is there’s a few rust problems i.e the swing arm, faring grills and back shock adjustment.

Many think the Kawasaki Versys 650 is more comfortable for long trips, and the Tracer 900 is even more comfortable, better than the Versys 1000 for most.
@bradleyj945 жыл бұрын
I own a tracer 700, my Dad has the versys 650. I would have to agree that the versys is more comfortable for touring, and the included luggage in his gt version is much bigger and better quality than I could have gotten with mine. Also, the suspension on the versys is better for cornering. On the plus side for the tracer 700 is it being so easy to use, it is 20kg or so lighter than than the versys wet and has a bit more power in the engine. This combined with my Dad being 30kg or so heavier than me means any advantage he gets in corners is soon clawed back by me opening the taps once it straightens up :)

I test rode the MT 07 tracer before. Good bike and a brilliant engine. But, ultimately I got me a Honda NC750 because: It costs less, the windscreen on the Tracer is horrible (lots of buffeting but none on the NC 750), Honda has much longer service intervals and the fuel economy of the Honda did it for me. Lastly, the handlebar on the Yamaha was a bit narrow for my liking. If Yamaha can bring the Tracer closer to the Honda’s qualities, then they’ll have a real winner and a new customer.
