MJ White agreed 100%!!!! I had an R1M before it but a back injury had me trying the supernakeds . Got mine at launch in2017 for a steal!! In the us MSRP was $12,999,..I got mine a week after launch out of California for $9,200 OUT THE DOOR! No dealer fees, set up fees, doc fees, any of that, the dealer ordered 12 of them for the Launch ;..and had no orders prior and no purchases a week after ,..9 of those were in the grey/fleur combo so they dumped 2 of them at $9200;..I found it on cycletrader ; cheapest one in the US, had I been thinking I should have bought both lol and sold one. Shipped it to utah decat the exhaust and loved it for 2 years. By far the most fun bike I've ever owned! Sold for a divorce ; but getting another one I loved it so much! That crossplane 4 decated is amazing!

TommyBarnezTV I know you didn't ask me but saw he hasn't responded, so thought I would. I had an R1M onenof the first in America and really loved it, but for me personally,..comfortability was huge! The R1 in 2015 they changed the ergos to nearly identical to Yamahas MotoGP bikes,..they set it up as a race bike knowing they were releasing a steeet bike (MT10) in a year so they dedicated the R1 to a sport bike feel. It's known as the least comfortable bike out there for body position. You don't want to put miles on it I'll say that much. I rode mine 1,100 miles on a trip and worst decision ever! 🙂 the MT10 is upright, has clipons, slightly lower pegs. I broke my back in 6 places in a Ducati accident and couldn't ride my R1 for more than 45 Minutes without pain. My MT10 I can ride literally all day touring with no pain at all!! No wrist pain, no neck pain. -I also love the crossplane 4 but like it much better in MT10 format;..it has less hp,..but actually MoRE torque than the R1 and very lower in the rev range which that with the lower gearing, lower max rpm means you can use the power any time any gear, right out of the hole there's so much torque ,..the R1 you don't get it until it's wrapped WAY up and with the long gearing on the R1 , to get into the power you're reving itnout and doing 100mph . I love the cruise control on the MT10 as well. It has a much larger ari intake which growls which is cool, I love the looks of both , but have become more a Supernaked fan looks wise since owning and love the transformer look, kind of military tech spec looking. The wide bars make it feel more nimble and controlable, the grips are much larger diameter and feels much better than skinny pencils of the R1 and other bikes. The MT10 also has the quickest 0-60mph of any production motorcycle on earth (in 2017) of 2.5 seconds,..quicker than a superduke and Tuono that have 15 more hp. Quicker than the R1 or any sport bike and it jsut the gearing, tune , torque etc . Jsut a much much more fun bike to ride in my opinion. I commuted on mine every day for 2 years and still wanted to go out after work riding and on the weekends. My daughters looooved to be picked up on the bike form school lol. Cool dad! With passengers it's much more comfortable where they aren't laying out you, jsut sitting up behind you . The wheelbase is shorter than the R1 too which again makes it more nimble and wheelie happy! It's thenbest of the R1 but confortable and the most fun bike ive ever owned! I've had 13 now ; 12 supersports from R1M, to Ducatis , to cbr1000rr's to 600rr, r6, etc etc; and this bike was so good that I'm buying another one. I sold it for a divorce after 2 years and will be the first bike I've bought a 2nd one of. Usually I like to try new bikes but no reason to. ZERO reliability issues. No problems no recals in 2 years, engine got even better and more powerful over time. I did a decat which makes it sound like a MotoGP bike, best mod I did, then had the ECU retuned/flashed, and a race filter; makes 2more hp than a superduke when done. Some complain of the brakes, if you put EBC pads makes a world of difference . That's all jsut my 2 cents but man I miss that bike!! If it's also 1/4th the cost to insure verses an R1, people love the looks on the street , I'd get older Harley Davidson biker gangster guys giving me thumbs up, to kids to girls to moms ,..all around. 🙂👍👍

I would like to give a shout-out to the driver of that red sedan. Not only did he move over in his lane to let you filter when you were standing still, once the traffic got moving he actually signaled before making a safe lane change. One of the best driving cagers I have ever seen in any video like this one.

We had a lot of fun reviewing this bike. It’s a brutal machine, although I must say it needs refinement on fuel consumption... it loves a drink. Personally the Cb1000r was a more practical and well priced machine out of the majority 1000cc naked class bikes. None the less, good review mate 👍
@TommyBarnezTV

Cheers mate, yeah I think I was on fumes when I got back to the dealer, hadn't noticed how quick the fuel went down 😂 Someone commented saying the fuel consumption gets better when the engine is broken in. Great review, I've got the SP version of the MT10, (same engine & performance) now I assume the bike that you were riding was new, not done many miles. My experience is that when they have covered 4 to 5 thousand miles, the fuel economy improves and that engine gets even better. I've ridden across France & Germany on mine and with the cruise control on the MT10 is pretty good at touring too.

When touring and the bike is loaded with camping gear I usually stop to refuel / drink some water after the Trip meter indicates 100 miles, there is always plenty of fuel left at that point.

Everyone goes to the "Mental" thing on the MT10 right out of the gate. It is fast but in its class it is not anything remarkable as far as power. I test rode one the other day and I was blown away at its refinement, balance, comfort, light weight and smoothness. This is one of the few bikes I have been on that I immediately loved. Yes it is fast but it is so well balanced and soulful to ride. I have a Super Duke GT and I am very inclined to trade it in on an MT10.

@@philliprobertlawman2232 ah I didnt realise SP came with a TFT thought it was just the suspension upgrade. Ohlins at the back? Do you notice much of a difference in the ride with the suspension or was your decision more based on the screen? TFT screen would be nice on this I think
@philliprobertlawman2232

My decision was mainly the ohlins, the TFT I could take it or leave it, but now I wouldn't be without it, the rear shock is semi active as well and the SP paint is pretty special too, same as the R1M, back to back, you probably would be hard pressed to notice the suspension difference at normal speeds, it's when you're cracking on they come into their own 😂

Sounds sver very MotoGP! The end can it titanium and a larger diameter internal pipe than. Almost aftermarket slip ins so no reason to replace. Joe Head you won't be disappointed!!! I went from a R1M to MT10 in '17, BEST bike I've ever owned, most fun too! Amazing at the track as well! Tel you best money I spent was $140 on a decat ypipe ! The bike sounds MotoGP for sure when done , first cheap, sheds 26 lbs too! The cat is sooo heavy!! Doesn't require a reflash either but NelsTune can reflash the ECU , it's $250, you easily pull it out and mail it to him he sends it back. Add a race filter and all 3 Put you at 182hp! I added the grey matching shorty levers too, shogun sliders and spindles, and was done. Telling u tho, put a ypipe on,..danmoto makes one that allows you to still use the Factory end can which is titanium so don't replace it. The ypipe alone will transform the bike! You can install it yourself in 20 minutes and take it back off if you choose. "The Muscle Biker" bought my MT10 and posted some uploads of the sound of it decated after buying it from me. You'll see me in the video signing papers and then he runs it. Check it out if interested in MotoGP sound. 👍

Yes, rode a modded 2018 MT-10. Always had liter bikes in the past. I picked up the FZ 09 because I wanted to try a naked. The MT-10 has the YZF-R1 engine DETUNED for low end torque. With ALL FZ/MT models get a good pipe and ECU flash to match the pipe remove factory limiters etc., SUPER MENTAL. Don't worry the Yamaha crossplane is tough as nails, Yamaha expects that a lot of their customers are going to flash.

Got a late 2018 blue model. Ditching the tail and putting on a £30 tail tidy properly changes and tightens up the look of the back end. Decat and remap next in my shopping list. Got mirror extenders too for £15 which is a must if you are over 6ft :)

Great review TBTV! Am myself on an MT09 daily driving a mix of city lane-splitting traffic and highways and it gets the job done with a grin all the time esp. when the wrist twitches a bit! Also saw your reviews of the MT10 and Z1000SX and would very much appreciate your thoughts on those 2 as upgrade options to the 09. Same use, daily driving on a mix of highway and city slicking. Am rather rather partial to the 10 and that X-plane engine character and the whole MT playfulness but I started on an R25 so that Z1000SX upright sport riding/touring look is also doing it for me. Looking forward to your reply thanks!

Thanks! Interestingly I am thinking about new bikes for next year at the moment and the z1000sx has popped in my mind a bit. I found the mt10 felt a bit too mental to me. I've ridden more powerful bikes, 1290gt for example which felt awesome. Saying that I really like the z1000sx however when I think about it I dont get massively excited. I'm also wanting some tech like cruise control as spend a fair amount of time at motorway speed. Therefore the bike I'm thinking quite seriously about at the moment is the h2 sx se. I've not ridden one yet but reading about it makes me think it could be a good option. If you want mental, mt10 If you want more relaxed but looking awesome z1000sx If you want mental but some comfort 1290gt If you want some mental, some comfort, some tech and a seriously hot machine to look at, h2 sx se :) That's my thinking at the moment. Though ride them all and see what feels good to you. I wasnt overly keen on the mt09 though that may have been because I rode a street triple rs before it which I loved and this mt10 after it so the mt09 kinda got lost in my mind a bit.

@@TommyBarnezTV thanks very much for replying. Interestingly I did test ride the Striple 765 S before the 09. Such a together package...but the 09's engine character just did it for me. So on paper it does sound like the 10 is the way to go if I'm keeping to the lunacy of the MT range and all! Talking bout lunacy and you namedrop the H2SX SE! Hang on with all you've got! EICMA will be interesting, what with the new 1290R being shown. Looking forward to seeing that go head-to-head with the SFV4! Thanks again for your thoughts TBTV. Will drop a line when the next question comes up. Subscribed button hit (your 4k vids are great to watch). Rubber side down!

The one and only gripe I'm having with the MT-10 is it looks to darn small for me, is this true how do you feel on it? I'm 6'2 270lbs and I ride my bike just fine but it is cramped a bit, is the MT-10 that way?
@TommyBarnezTV
@TommyBarnezTV 5 жыл бұрын
I'm 6ft and about 200lbs ish. For me it doesn't feel small. The engine and tank feels quite big underneath you. Being upright keeps it comfortable and I could imagine going a few hours on it without any problems. With the seat you are also able to find a good spot. I'd say definitely give one a test ride.

If I was seriously good at wheelies I would be tempted however 2 factors would probably still prevent me from putting that in a review. Firstly it could damage relationships with dealers meaning no more bikes for reviews and secondly its classed as dangerous driving by police so why give them that evidence? Nothing against people that do it in reviews just not something for me. Maybe on a track but not the roads I test on 😎
