definitely the most underrated supernaked on the market. I traded my multistrada for a lightly used mt10, saved a boat load of money. Put a decat exhaust on the mt10, and it sounds like a big block v8, just an absolute monster. With factory heated grips and cruise control, its the total package. More comfortable than the tuono and S1000r, and just as good of a road bike. Best bike decision i've made in a while.

greg alford it's true , Yamaha worked SO hard on the MT10" ,.the knew they could change the game if the did it right and now the only Japanese Supernaked , earned the respect of the euro. Nakeds. There's a Supernaked shootout on KZbin b a bike magazine and they had all the big boy Supernakeds and a new mt10 , hadn't been launched yEt and lot a lot known and a few of the Magazije editors comment in the video wondering if it shoudl be I the group or left out like the other base nakeds. Guess which one the group test Lololol FZ10 overthrow king Lds Supernakeds. SDR and Tuono Factory. For Yamaha to accomplish that and do it so much class expensive just speaks to the company and the bike.

You won’t regret it, I started watching too many reviews and overthinking it to the point I literally went in to get an MT09 instead, yet the guy “convinced” me which I didn’t need much of in the first place 😂, I just couldn’t make my mind up, and ended up pulling the trigger on a 2019 MT10, been riding it for a week now, and man I can’t get enough of this machine, fuel economy was one big thing I looked into because I commute a lot to work and such, got 82-90 miles on the first tank, couldn’t give 2 shits about how much I get out of it now, the experience makes up for all the shortcomings and pickiness of other peoples opinions of it on KZbin.

Like you, I've owed the Tuono (2) and the SuperDuke. I bought the MT-10 about 3 months ago and am loving it. Also, I've had the opportunity to ride the BMW S 1000 r on a couple of occasions. This is my favorite of this group for roominess, comfort and the way the power comes on which I can easily modify according to my mood. It doesn't have the quality components of these others and there is a sense to me of a plastic look compared to the others mentioned above. Still, the girls at work like it too, one calling my new bike, "Sick". It's performance is brilliant. My son mirrored my experience (especially in performance mode 1 and 2): "This bike just wants to GO!" My SuperDuke and Tuonos always felt a bit boring when in traffic - when in me needing to to be observant - a good citizen. It was almost like grinding teeth with them. However, the Yamaha somehow doesn't irk me and is quick, smooth and easily modulated. An MRA racing screen really is the only addition I desired, it looks great and takes wind pressure off on the open road. I like the stock seat just fine since I don't go long distances. I'm getting about 28.5 mpg, currently yielding Tuono range which I actually can live with since I don't ride with groups and love so much the sweetness of this fine bike's performance (I remember you hated that aspect of the T). My Husky SuperMoto is the sister bike and yields enthusiastic acceleration and about 51 mpg when I'm looking for an alternative. If you can believe Consumer Reports, there is goodness in this brand's reliability as icing on the cake. Bottom line: you nailed it in your review.

Jonny Begood was debating between '17 sueprduke R and Tuono Factory v4 1100 , both $17,500 plus fees 😳 but performance wise the only route I wanted comming from an r1M prior . Waited for the MT10 to come out and glad I did, saved half lol and truly loved the bike!! Eventually decat it (best $130 spent) race filter and rehash putting it at 182hp and dropping 32lbs of cat weight . Sold the bike after 2 years to divorce and getting another soon , going MT10 again🙂

@@DukeOfDCI did 16000km on MT09 and 5000km - not entirely sure this is long term, but I think it allows me to at least compare the two. First of all, they are both absolutely amazing bikes. Service intervals are the same, so there's no difference in maintenance costs, but you'll spend more on fuel and tires on MT10, that's for sure. She is thirsty. MT10 is bigger, faster, a little bit heavier (193kg vs 210kg), but nearly as agile as MT09. It's suspension is much harder from factory - bike feels a lot more planted than MT09, especially in longer, faster corners, also in higher speeds it's lot more solid than MT09. Sound - both badly need decat and pipe. Can't really compare 3 and 4 cylinder crankshaft engines in terms of sound, but they both sound absolutely godly - I had Black Widow exhaust on MT09 and SP engineering on MT10. It all comes down to your riding style and what environment you ride in. Pick MT09 if you commute, live in a city, like a bit (a lot) of hooliganism after work or on weekends. A bit of touring is also possible with MT09. Opt for MT10 for hooliganism lvl 9000+, if you do more longer rides and occasional touring. All in all, can't go wrong with either. They are a great bargain considering price/performance/reliability. You know those engines won't skip a beat during your ownership.

BLACK05GO1 there's a reason.l for that most don't know. 🙂 the 2017 Yamaha FZ10 only had 160hp compared to its also crossplane 4 R1 brothers 200+ BUT Yamaha gave the MT10 a HUGE airbox, tuning and fueling to make the FZ10 produce more Torque than the R1 and from a very very low rom but with a. Road curve they the rev range. Yamaha also gave it a slightly lower gear ratio, lowered the rev range and with magical ecu work, the 16hp MT10 has the quickest 0-60mph time of ANY production motorcycle of Earth. Quicker than more HyperCars for that matter. 🙂 my R1M was approaching 100 by end of first gear and only in power for part. My MT10 revs out just a hair past 60mph and power almost from start,.irs essentially a 0-60 weapon or low roller. Lol but like u said , takes practice as the front wheel always want up. Think all MT10 owners know the 0-60 deal so any bike or car u sit at a light of roll with is anneas take down if u rise. 🙂 that same principle is why it's so dangerous o shorter tracks , the corner exit and torque out well makes up for a loss on the back straight at richter Tracks.

I test rode one the other day and I was equally impressed. I have never been on a more balanced and easy to ride bike. It was surprisingly comfortable and the suspension was great. I do own a KTM Super Duke GT as well so it was a good comparison. If I had to make the same choice today I think I would get the MT10 over the KTM. Reliability, affordability and pure fun makes this is a tough bike to beat. If they were the same price it would be a VERY tough call but I think I would still lean toward the MT10 with bags a and a shield.

J. Rockett Audio Designs Same here. I owned a SDGT for about a year (11k miles) and had a minor accident. Insurance company totaled it though. Picked up a nicely modded 2018 MT10 with 3500 miles for $8500 last week. When I was looking around I was nervous that any other bike would leave me wanting more after the KTM 1290 engine. For comparison purposes the SDGT was stock and the MT10 did have a: cat delete, ECU flash, R1 rear shock, R1 front and rear master cylinders, slightly lowered handlebar clamps, R1 rear sets, suspension set up for track, new brake/clutch levers, among other mods. So the riding position is a bit more aggressive than stock and the suspension stiffer than many might like for the street. But I really like it set up like this. Have rode it 3 times for about 2 hours each and have no problems with comfort. Also, the stock SDGT probably weighs 50-60 lbs more than my modded MT10. And I’m not sure what kind of power the cat delete/flash added but I’m sure it helped. Seat of the pants I would say under 5k rpm my MT10 feels like it pulls harder (the SD really doesn’t pull wildly until about 5k rpm), 5k-8k rpm the SD pulls harder, over 8k rpm pretty evenly matched. As far as the brakes, and it does have the R1 master cylinders (and weighs less), I think it stops just as well or better. What really makes me love my MT10 as compared to the SDGT is the handling. I can take corners, that I am familiar with how I took them with the SDGT, with more speed, stability and much more ease. It handles that much better and is easier to throw around and take corners at speed while feeling more stable. Wasn’t sure when I bought it, but after riding it a few days I definitely like it better than the SDGT. And the bike I got with the mods/price was a vastly superior value compared to a used SDGT.

Scandi MC Your points are valid. What’ you didn’t mention though is reliability. The KTM and the Ducati have horrible reliability/durability issues when compared to Yamaha. Not my opinion, based solely on data. They are still good choices as long as your clear about what your getting into.

I bought the MT-09 after riding both. Fun factor of the 9 out produced the 10 for me. If I was a track guy, or gonna throw some side bags sport tour with it I'd had opted for the 10. The 10 seemed like you had to spool it up to get any response...the 09 was "tap on full" right off the bottom of the rev range. Thousands less and easier on fuel (*not that that matters*). Complete hoon bike is the 09 - subtle and cool roller is the 10. YMMV

The Suzuki GSX S 1000 on the DYNO has more horsepower and the same torque cost 2000 less I have ridden all the naked it all comes down to the rider more than anything there that close. I'm coming off a ducati monster I went with the GSX S1000 the B MW was nicer but not 5000 dollars more nicer plus dealership plays a big part with the European bikes other wise I would have gotten the Aprilia Tor. Then reliability another issue so be safe on your travels

It doesn't feel noticeably heavier than the MT-09 when riding at 60% as seen in the video, but on a track I think you'd begin to feel the extra weight. Not sure if it would negatively impact the ride though. It's very well setup.

I have a 2010 Kawasaki Z750 and I rode to the location where i would test drive the MT 10(Through the Yamaha MT tour). Got an MT 10 with akrapovic exhaust. The difference is night and day not only power wise but also in terms of dynamics. When i finished my ride and hoped on my Z to head back home), on the first turn i felt like i was riding a wooden plank with 2 wheels. I have test rode both the S1000R and the Tuono 1100 Factory. Fell in love with the Tuono, sound, smoothness everything was top notch but you get the reliability of an Aprilia. The S1000R also is extremely nice (the brakes though are in a different league, you need 1 finger to stop the bike) but again you get BMW reliability. So I decided to buy an MT 10 in the coming months since i use my bike daily for commute. As far as i am concerned the only drawback of the MT 10 is the fuel consumption which pretty much is the same as my Z. Although it is worth mentioning that both the Tuono and S1000R have a significantly more advanced electronics package,(especially cornering abs, and advanced traction control)

I bought mine as brand new. My 2017 FZ10 has 11300 miles on it as of now. Just came back from a 1058 miles trip in two days. Sharing my likes and dislikes Likes: other than mod expense and tires absolute peace of mind in maintenance. I take care of oil changes and chain maintenance myself. I hear often my fellow riders with bmw and ducati cribbing about maintenance cost. I used to ride 100cc motorcycle for years and jumped straight to FZ10 after almost 8 years break. This bike didn't scare me and was very confident inspiring, super stable and will bring smile on your face when you open throttle. Cruise control was a blessing for my long rides. Dislikes: Seat must be upgraded. I went for seat cover Italian made with some extra cusion. Problem solved. Breaks came from factory not very good. Upgraded the front break pack under $100 and worth every penny. Miles range on a full tank gas is very poor. I keep looking for gas stations every 100 miles. This is a serious head ache asking fellow riders to pull over. Stock Rear tire won't last even 3500 miles. I do not do drifts or stunts. With dual compound sport touring you can expect close to 5k. Throttle response is little twitchy. Especially B mode. I normally leave it A mode. Iam thinking of FJR 1300 as an option for touring but love this bike so much and do not want to trade in.
