Thanks for this video. Your touring videos have inspired me to do some longer trips on my MT10. I just got a Nelson-Rigg seat bag but I might get the tank bag. I was a bit worried about it being too high but it looks ok. I’m quite keen to see what mileage I can get out of a tank just cruising on the highway.
@Banditmanuk5 жыл бұрын
Ha ha don't be too optimistic on how far the MT10 will go, we tend to plan a stop every 100 miles. Just cruising in top on the motorway/highway I reckon mine would do 135 to 140 miles on a tank but we just put a fuel stop into our route every 100 just to be safe. Good luck with your longer trips. All the best Richard H

Sweet. Thanks! Had no idea this (panniers) were available. Wanted something small-ish, without having a butt-assed ugly permanent rack. These look so simple, yet so effective. I appreciate the video a lot.

Thanks Richard, a bit late to this video have just purchased a couple of SW Motech tank bags to try on my GSX650F and am strongly considering the Blaze panniers so was interested to see what you thought of them as you tour regularly.
@Banditmanuk4 жыл бұрын
Still got them, still use them and still like them. Only downside is if you've had a wet ride to a hotel the panniers do get a bit dirty and sludged up and you have to carry them into the room.
@blitzer1094 жыл бұрын
Banditmanuk thanks, I guess you can always dump them in the bathroom at the hotel
@Banditmanuk4 жыл бұрын
@@blitzer109 Ha ha we have done that and washed them off in the shower prior to unpacking. The inner bags are completely waterproof. They unfortunately won't pull out the outer bags when fully packed.

Neat rig. However wouldn’t a tail bag be less intrusive than the tank bag?
@Banditmanuk11 ай бұрын
Possibly but I do have my reasons for liking a tank bag. 1) Money, phone, passport all readily at hand on touring where I can see them. 2) When at toll booths I've got my credit card in the back pocket of the bag, easily accessible. 3) When I park up at a cafe, one pull of the quick release tank ring turns my tank bag into a carry or shoulder bag and I don't leave valuables on the bike. Thanks for watching. Ps In later vids I add a rear rack and a horrible looking locking Givi case. I've toured many countries with this set up and the Blaze panniers & sometimes a stuff sack across the rear seat.

Nice vid mate. Out of interest exactly which tank bag is that as I agree it does fit well , evo engage?

Those SW Motech Blaze Panniers there look to be the same system as my MT-09 Yamaha ones; that I fitted onto my MT-10. I guess SW Motech make the Yamaha ones for them. The Only differences, that I see, are mine say Yamaha on them and yours have a nicer red interior. I like mine. I especially like that there's no big rails left on the bike when the Panniers are taken off.
@Banditmanuk7 жыл бұрын
But were the Yamaha one more than £255.00? Though they were well priced from BYKEBITZ. Took them about a week to get from Germany.
@xplane75237 жыл бұрын
Not sure, I think the Yamaha badged same panniers may have been a little more than the SW Motech for a Yamaha badge. I am not criticising your choice, the opposite is true, I bought my Yamaha ones, made by SW I bet, for my MT-09 as part of a deal. I prefer these to the hard Panniers Happy touring.

Nice video, useful and informative. I have just bought them for my MT10 ahead of a summer trip to the alps. I also want to carry some spare fuel. Can I ask where you got that small fuel bottle, and more to the point, is it any good? How easy is it to pour into the tank and most importantly any sign of leaks? Thanks
@Banditmanuk7 жыл бұрын
Ben Weldon Not used them on a trip yet but tried petrol in them and they look strong and leak proof. Got mine with a flexible pooring spout Look at this on eBay www.ebay.co.uk/itm/162430736811

Thanks Banditman, they look like they fit the panniers well. Will post some footage of mine once the panniers arrive and I convert her from street mode to a more touring focused style. As we both know, the MT is amazing, but extremely thirsty! Will definitely want to carry spare fuel in the Alps this summer.

Good video. Thanks. Did you manage to fit a tail tidy or would there not be room for the relocated indicators between the bags?
@Banditmanuk5 жыл бұрын
Sadly rod I've still got the original tail and plate on mine, I think it helps stop some of the wet road filth covering my back so cannot tell you. I know some guys on the UK MT10 Facebook group have this system, it might be worth asking a question there and see which tail tidy fits best with the SW Motech kit. Thanks for calling by the channel, best regards Richard.👍

Hi Rod. I bought my bike already fitted with a tail tidy and then bought similar panniers and there is interference., hence me re visiting the video. I think I may need to refit the original tail for long term use of the panniers. I'm also trying to think of a way to leave them securely on the bike while I go for chips. Well.. securely enough for piece of mind.
@rodsimcox71183 жыл бұрын
@@eldendir Hi - thanks for the reply. I eventually put the number plate on the side of the bike and used integrated tail light and indicators. That took everything completely off the rear end and it looks very good. Best Rod.

hello have you had problems with the heat of the terminal? Did the bags melt on long journeys?
@Banditmanuk3 жыл бұрын
The bags have been fine and we have done very long journeys with them packed. Not sure what it would be like with an aftermarket exhaust or a decat.

Hi, can you tell me do the panniers run against the panel on the sides of the bike. Was thinking about getting these ?????
@Banditmanuk6 жыл бұрын
MOTOUK The only place these panniers touch is the small grey plastic panel just below the rear of the riders seat. Possible slight Mark on one side of the bike but I'm sure when I bought these there were some stick on clear plastic covers you could use sent inside the panniers.

The exhaust will make a mess out of that pannier bag after a few miles...stink too..along with whats inside of it..I wouldn't put the fuel bottle on the exhaust side, that caught my attention very quickly..also, if your planning long rides I would use the tank bag for a chest resting spot by adding padding inside it and add to the top of the rear seat for more storage space. trying to help..
@Banditmanuk7 жыл бұрын
chris holton Did a long run at the weekend with the set up and yes there are some downsides. I used the pannier opposite the exhaust for both petrol containers. Both panniers get dirty with road dirt, the left one also gets the odd spot of chain lube. Didn't notice any smell from the exhaust but think the liner would keep your clothes dry and fume free. The two 1.5L bottles extended the bike's range to a more reasonable 150 miles. For me its still better than bolting frames to the bike for hard panniers.
@masterspin77967 жыл бұрын
Excellent!..I didn't think about the chain making a mess too..Im ordering the gas cans, I'm on mv agusta 800 dragster rr and gas is like finding gold on the longer road trips..

Do the bags rub the plastic near the seat at all? Also, how is it riding with the bags empty?
@Banditmanuk6 жыл бұрын
GrizzlyJ85 Hi, yes after a long tour fully loaded the plastic at the back off the seat has been polished up a bit in an area of about 10mm x 10mm. Should had fitted the protective plastic that came with the bags. Honestly not ridden with them empty but with the mounting system and clip I don't see a problem

Do either of the bags rub on any painted area on the tail? Tank?
@Banditmanuk7 жыл бұрын
FEVOmotorsports No the bag doesn't really even touch the tank with all the weight on the tank ring. Nothing to really rub at the back with the panniers. We do put a couple of sticking plasters on the paint at the rear on my wife's Street Triple with the Blaze panniers

Lee Martin The Yamaha tech took the cable to the bike's fuse box and it is protected by its own fuse. Sorry cannot tell you exactly how he did it but for me it was worth paying for. Arnolds Yamaha (Burton-upon-Trent)

@Vindaloobeast7 жыл бұрын
Banditmanuk Some bikes have a spare accessory port in the fusebox but if they dont you can buy fuse carriers that double up a port but then you cant shut the lid. I will check. The cradle on the 590lm has a lot of wiring to hide as it has all manner of input and output leads in the cradle cable.
@Banditmanuk7 жыл бұрын
Lee Martin The 660 is the same, loads of input cables to hide, but the tech did a good job. You can just see them if you get on your knees and look up where the steering damper is. He did a neat job mind.

Hi, could I ask, does the tank bag help at all with wind deflection at high speed?
@Banditmanuk6 жыл бұрын
AbsWave Have to say I've not noticed much indifference with the wind either fitted or off. Being tall myself I've never got on much with screens or wind defectors
@MrCrazySmurf6 жыл бұрын
Am 6ft tall and the wind bothers the heck out of me over 85. Does it affect steering at all? I've got a trip coming and am not sure whether to get a tank bag or not. Thanks mate
@Banditmanuk6 жыл бұрын
AbsWave To be honest I always ride with a tank bag, the larger one seen on this vid and a micro one for short trips that fits on the same mount. After an accident a while ago where stuff in my pocket injured me I never ride with keys or anything in my pockets. Tank bags are also great if you use the auto toll routes in Europe where you stop for tickets and credit cards. Easy enough to fit a screen loads of after market or Yamaha ones around, the Facebook group MT10 UK owners would certainly offer advice as to which is best. I find not having one is an incentive not to go stupidly fast for long periods.
@MrCrazySmurf6 жыл бұрын
lol thanks mate, I have an MT 07 and after changing to low bars I find that no screen fits and thought that a tank bag might help. Sorry for your accident and thanks for the advise, I think i'll get one for your reasons. safe riding :)
@SportSoulLife6 жыл бұрын
AbsWave Used to ride a 07 myself. Really fun bike that one. What i really like about tankbags is not only the safety and practicality mentioned, but also that you can carry the tools needed to tweak your bike on the road. Not much of that on the 07, but if you someday upgrade to a 09 or a 10 you will quickly get sucked into the science of suspension setups and wont ride anywhere without the tools needed to tweak them to your liking for your current riding style. I dont go anywhere without my tiny sport tankbag with a hex key and a 14 mm (i think) spanner in the inner side pocket.

Can you put a top case with passenger back rest on this bike?
@Banditmanuk7 жыл бұрын
johnj189 I believe you can. If you are carrying a pillion you might want to also consider fitting the longer passenger footpegs off the MT09, they fit straight on.
