Great review, I'm an experienced rider (40+ years on bikes) and I absolutely love my NIKEN. I still have a few R1's in my garage but the NIKEN is now my go to bike. I even did a track day on it (just for fun) and was surprised just how capable it was. Yamaha nailed it with this bike!

I was one of your target people…it got me riding…first bike…definitely feel more confident and stable riding. As far as maintenance…1 extra tire is all…the rest as Yamaha is known for, its rock solid..unless you are putting 100km on your bike you won’t have to think of any other maintenance other than the standard bike maintenance. Like all things…evolve or die. The anti evolutionist will eventually come around.

it’s an interesting solution to the main drawbacks of motorcycles: Keeping the front wheel down (more weight over the front with two wheels), Lateral traction limitations (more contact patches equals more traction) and better braking capabilities (see last point). Unfortunately, it’s cons kind of kill the point of a motorbike: Wider, heavier, more moving parts and hence more maintenance. Interesting idea though, I’d like to see how it takes up with the younger market (motorcycle sales are dropping worldwide, some say due to interest evolution in the younger, electronically driven market segment)
