My 1st track day of 2022 here at Thunderhill East (A group), filmed with a GoPro and an Insta 360, edited on Resolve Studio 17. It was a very cold day and I rode like it was a very cold day, even when it started to warm up in the afternoon. I had absolutely no corner speed because I was too worried about edge grip. Obviously need more track days.
My Stuff:
2016 Yamaha R1, FlashTune ECU (Bikeside Harness), Graves Performance Carbon Fiber SlipOns w/MJS mid-pipe and some other cool stuff. Most HP Gain came from Red R1 Brake Res. Cover, which got worn out...shit.
LS2 Helmet
Hero 7 Helmet Cam w/Insta 360 for the bike
Alpinestar Perforated Jacket (red and white), and leathers.
Sidi Boots (white leather), with those strapy things
Alpinestar GP Gloves, with those strapy things
Resolve 17 Studio Editing software
Badass Gaming PC (Windows 10)
and of course Dees. Oh if you have a line on some good quality card board, hook a brother up, I need some for my breakdancing.🤷🏼‍♂️🥴
BF4 Gamer tag I_am_la11 (oh and the New BF sucks)
"WALL" clan cuz this World is made of WALLS and those WALLS need to be defended by men with guns.
Oh, and don't forget to New Jack Swing on Dees

The secret to going fast is to think you are late for work… looks like fun

You're doing good dude. There's sort of a natural progression you will go through. As you get faster you'll learn more advanced techniques. It just comes with seat time. A couple things you can try doing, which I know can be hard on a cold day. You're cold, maybe shivering, you feel stiff. The bikes suspension/rims takes a session or so to warm up. - Try to have a light grip on the handle bars, don't clench tight. When you clench, you stiffen your whole body and essentially wrestle with the bikes natural movement. - Grip with your legs and core to hold you on to the bike. - Your eyes are probably the most important thing. Look ahead a bit to slow things down and not directly in front of the bikes tire. You must feed your brain with the necessary information it needs for you to react. - Your "sense of speed" comes with time. But, the more you can slow things down in your mind, you will be smoother and the smoother you are the faster you'll become. Because you won't feel overwhelmed. Being overwhelmed makes it "feel" like you are going fast. But often times, you're not. - One way to be smooth, is during the straights all you're essentially doing is pulling the throttle, it doesnt take much focus. So try to do what you can to prep for the next corner, (shift your butt over, know the point you want to brake at) and when the corner comes all you have to do is slow to a comfortable speed and lean. - And if you start to get tired, that's when you start to make a lot of mistakes. It's best just to come in, rest, don't risk yourself or your bike and just go out the next session. Quality over quantity. Good luck on your riding journey bro. Have fun and stay safe.

Bro, just saw this. Thank you so much. This is all great stuff. One of my biggest issues is trusting my lean at pace between 7-8-and 9, but you are so right...sense of speed will come with time. I met Mo R. #37 on Friday (9/16) and he helped me tremendously by going over my gear selection for each turn and pointing out that I needed to downshift a fraction of a second prior to going to the brakes. He gave me these suggestions because he asked me how I felt out there, and I told him that I felt my biggest issue was braking and feeling like I was kinda out of control. I would follow faster guys and they seemed so much more relaxed while braking and I felt like I was just fighting my R1. After implementing his suggestions, in my last two sessions, I finally realized why the other riders seemed so much more calmer going into corners. Utilizing the engine breaking 1st, before going to the brakes, made an unbelievable difference, especially when I was basically going into each turn 1 gear lower. I found myself over-slowing and was able to get on the gas earlier. My next track day, I will have all the sessions to get use to slowing faster and then can work on my times. It felt great to actually start to hit most of my apexes...HAHAHAHAHA.

Thank you brother. I really appreciate your vote of confidence and the fact that you take time to comment on all my videos. That means a lot to me. I have a long way to go and looking forward to the process. Hope all is well man. Keep chasing your dreams and dont take no for an answer. I guess the trick to life is not comparing yourself to others, but always try to be better then YOUR YESTERDAY. Be good and be kind bro.

Great vid LA, thank you for sharing. Though not able to see you and your actual tension, in my minds eye (and of my own experience) your early entry to many of the turns is evident of your mental tension. When we are mentally tense we become impatient as we approach turns and triggers us to begin entry well before we should (resulting in running wide on exit). I completely get why you felt tense, I am the exact same with regards to air temps. If I feel I am chilly or worse cold, I instinctively project that "feeling" on to my tires. On a side note, what have you done to you R1 that it gets out so well? You loose weight?
