Spent my life working on cars and i never once had an urge to get on 2 wheels until i saw the r7. The bike single handedly is getting people into riding and its a good thing. For someone like me who really doesn’t have the urge to chase top end speed but wants to enjoy the ride on something more capable than a small 300 it’s perfect. I like all the 650s personally but the r7 is the one to really stand out for me.

The r7 and mt07 are both fun bikes, way more fun than my r1 in my opinion. I cant get out of first gear on my r1 without being a criminal. Lol. It does 97 in first gear so if I wind it out through a couple gears im doing go to jail speeds. Same thing for the r6. Its hard to really wind it out and feel the power.
@Daniel-dj7fh2 жыл бұрын
@@cd-pu5uv Yea what I mean, and riding stupid fast endangering everyone and potentially losing your licence is just no fun in my eyes. I got my cb500f, I can yoink the shit out of the first two gears (but since it makes midrange power, 2, 3, 4 are the gears to row around in), and if you don't throttle out too much you can even have a spirited ride in a city if you look a bit ahead of time. Honestly, if Honda 270° cranked their 500, I'd trade in my bike for a cbr eventually upgrade the suspension and call it a day.

The R7 is a good bike. The reason nobody likes it is because it killed the R6, and because it sucks as a R7. If they wouldve named it the T7 or literally anything other than R7 it wouldn't have gotten as much hate as it has, and to be fair it deserves the hate for this reason. You cant name a slower bike one step above the R6, and then kill the R6 like an old dog and expect everyone to be okay with that. It was marketing that made this bike junk, and it's well deserved. The only way the R7 could make a comeback is if they renamed it, and made a new R6.
@Daniel-dj7fh2 жыл бұрын
@@TheGamersRace The tenere 7 is already a thing, and the lack of buyers killed the r6 not the r7. And to the naming schme r6 < r1 ? shouldnt the r6, by your definition be faster? and there is also an r3 (many markets even have an r125, r15, r25). The R7 gets so much hate because most people are too stupid to realise that it's off the mt07 platform and not a "new 700cc supersport".

@torr-michaelbennetta9785 Euro emissions. Euro 6 to be exact. Not sales. The R6 was selling fine the engine was to polluting to sell it any longer. They switched it to a 2 cylinder 700 cc and called it a R7. A R7 is a joke of a bike for Yamaha who only ever made the R series in an inline 4 cylinder. You can still buy a brand new R6 2023 or 2024 or 2025 but they are now for track use only not legal for street use. It had nothing to do with sales numbers.

Just gonna throw it out there: I've got an FZ-07. Such a fun bike. Sounds amazing. So much torque down low. So smooth. So reliable. It's slow as hell. This isn't a fast bike and don't expect it to be. It's a blast to ride. It gets great gas mileage. It's quick down low and perfectly fast for commuting. But don't ever expect to hang with a 600 or 1000. Obviously. But just throwing it out cause some people don't seem to get what the R7 is about.

Coming from an r6 to an r7 the r7 catches way too much hate for how fun it is, realistically speaking, you’re not gonna be hitting the 159mph of the r6 on a track, you’re gonna be in corners braking and accelerating, the r7 is perfect for this and just has so much fun acceleration and torque that really matters. Yeah if you wanna be a straight line warrior, yes, the r6 wins, but in terms of fun torque and cornering the r7 is just better. And those hating on it because it’s not an in-line 4, motogp wasn’t always inline 4:)

@@Daniel-dj7fh it wouldn't be too bad I don't think. It would just give the bike actual top end power past 6000 rpm. And there are many ways to get a linear powerband with a turbo these days. Controlled boost bleeding, electric wastegates, etc. Boost bleed is the best and cheapest method though. Have your turbo spinning at max desired boost rpm all the time, and just bleed off what you don't want to use off the intake manifold with an electric throttle body that costs 100 bucks. Very simple, and you can even use boost bleed as a wheelie control with a laser wheelie sensor too.

@@joshlewis5065 I mean, technically they could tune any engine to have a linear powerband at cost of peak hp. I just think that bikes don't need turbos, we already have bikes which are so stupid fast and still too many people who don't really know how to ride getting their hands on them.
@joshlewis50652 жыл бұрын
@@Daniel-dj7fh normally the people that turbo their bikes know how to ride. And the people that buy turbo bikes that don't know how to ride them either die or sell the bike, or the 1% that learns it and keeps it. I am a psychopath and I think everything needs turbos, so I like the idea of a turbo bike. The bowerband thing I don't see being an issue, it is similar to a 2 stroke powerband, and people can't get enough of that it seems.

we couldn’t see the speed. Would have been nice you edited the video to see what speed you were reaching the whole time. How much did you do in km/hr?

Really wasn't impressed with the R7 and that's partly because it was marketed poorly. I thought it would be between an r6 and an r1, but it is like a cbr 650r just a little more aggressive. I got to spend half a day on it at the track and thought man this needs a little bit more of everything. That said, it would be good for a quick and fun commuter bike, it's not super comfy though.
@Daniel-dj7fh2 жыл бұрын
There you go, it's just a cbr650r but more aggressive, just like what the ergos, engine layout and power output actually says. Isn't that a funny coincidence?
@oneonlyxram2 жыл бұрын
@@Daniel-dj7fh The R7 is a twin, and the cbr 650 r is inline 4...so the engines are different and are mapped different, the cbr is around 90hp while the r7 is around 72hp. Not sure if you're being facetious or what (tough to read tone on yt most people are trying to be a holes just because).

@@oneonlyxram they're both a2 bikes, of course the it's not the same wen one bike literally has double the cylinders. I just think it's hilarious that many people still try to compare the 7 to the 6 that's all haha.

@@Daniel-dj7fh ah, see to me it just wasn't really put out that well so you go with a guess and when you try to compare the two you'll be way wrong like I was haha.

Bruh I just watched a video of a guy getting 130 on a ninja 400... Was going to spend the extra money in getting this but if 130 is all i get then id rather get a ninja 400 now and hopefully by next year, the R9 would be out. At this point I honestly believe the ninja 650 and R7 are just bike for cyclists with too much ego to begin at 300-400 cc bikes. Whats the point in spending the extra cash in getting the same speed? Where the extra horsepower?
