I was actually in the paddock at this very meeting and remember the bikes all lined up with the competion leaders bike in Wrangler colours. Great memories.

Rode all Japan bikes and remembered in the 70s Harley and bike gangs would look at me but the were fast and work horses fun and you could out run anything the RD 350 1971 and nobody at a stoplight could catch you . The LC were a different breed.

The 80's and LC's, it reminds me of the regular race my mates and I had to be to first to chippy most nights.

I had a 350LC, an N1 ypvs like these ones and the later F1 ypvs with a full fairing. Fucking loved those bikes, sick that they're gone! Got a big cb1300 muscle bike now but the RD's were more fun for sure! The RD's would go off the clock 125mph plus!!!
@timcolder27893 жыл бұрын
Totally agree with that. Had a GPZ, an FZR 1000 Exup and more recently a ZX9R but never as much fun as the two strokes I rode before. The jump up from my 250 to a GPZ1000 was great fun only 9 months after passing my test. Rode a mates 350 LC two up at 120 odd, wicked thing nearly threw him off the back when it wheelied off from the local kebab shop! Miss the sound of the old spannies no question.

30yrs later, i'd finally restored a power-valve, that i couldn't afford to even own, when i was broke, in the 80's - but lusted after with a passion 1996 - I bought an ex-race Black & Red YPVS basket-case for £437 1996-2013 - I restored it back to ABSOLUTELY immaculate condition using OE parts & old stock (costing £4K+) . . . . and it 'ONLY' took 17yrs to do so!!! 2014 - I sold it for £6,500 (rubbing my hand together like a crazy 'Mike Brewer' - thinking, i was 'quids-in') 2023 - I'm, Now crying knowing they now sell for £14K+, for similar bikes Ah well, lesson learnt

I had one of those bikes. Kinda weird seeing them like this - they seem so tall and strange compared to 2018 machines. They were good bikes but did suffer from problems - overheating being one. I saw many radiators boiling over and mine would go fast but push it too far and it would seize. I lost count of the pistons, barrels and rebores mine had done. I do know it had two crank rebuilds. Mind you it was a Porsche beater...
@frozenice612 жыл бұрын
probably the mixer was way wrong or just abuse
@kasperkjrsgaard14472 жыл бұрын
Jetted too lean I guess. Mine was standard and never overheated of seized. And i had to follow my mates riding 750’s and 1000’s so it was on the boil.

Always owned, Kawasakis, no bike for 27 years, no Kawasaki shops near, thought maybe a good used RD 250,350,500, LC, got a 2005 GSF 650 BANDIT, not a Bandit S, better than a Bandit S, more torque. RD'S look fun, RD500LC or 650 Bandit????, BANDIT, capable of about 85mph, in 2nd gear, nice to know it can.

No way The YPVS was the spitfire of bikes It became part if you, you could feel what it wanted to do and the road. The YPVS killed a lot of kids because it was light, powerful and most past their tests and didn't have riding XP or underestimated the bike and showed off to the crowd. I started trials riding on a TY250 and Bultaco Sherpa T 250 and building bikes at 12 Then built a super dream 250 at 17, past the two part test then moved on to the 350LC and a year later the YPVS and had no problems, even going round the clock in 18 months. You needed Yokohamas for the best grip and feedback, they were like chocolate and lasted 3 months, but were worth the extra cost. I ran it in then found It had clutch slip so fitter racing springs. I had it from new and had a fast one, no other YPVS or kat250 could catch me. I knew many, many people with LCs and YPVS's, for most it was their first bike off L plates and they let the power get the better of them so crashed or died. The later YPVS's were not as good as the round headlight, small fairing one. If I remember the later ones were made in south america. But no the YPVS was and still is a fantastic bike, unlike the brick that was the RD500YPVS, now that was bad Though it could run with no oil and half the engine missing, so my mate found out after hitting a roundabout at about 130mph and riding it 20 miles home. Now he was a fool Passed his test, got a YPVS and flipped it on his second day showing people the power band lol
