Yamaha Receiver - Remove PCM / Decoder Off

The only solution I found is to factory reset the AV receiver. This will erase all settings, and will remove the PCM setting.
*Note
Don't try to hold down both Straight and Power buttons for longer than 3 seconds, as it may change the impedance levels from 8 to 6 (8 ohms is standard).

This fixed my issue! My Yamaha RXV-673 (many years old at this point) started flashing Decoder Off and PCM. When it said Decoder Off it would lose sound. REALLY annoying. Cable plug/replug worked sometimes but this fixed the issue completely. I had to reprogram the HDMI outlet to make it work with ARC but after I did that, everything’s been working as it should. 🤞🏼Thanks for the help!!

Press the “Info” button on the remote. It changes what’s displayed on the unit’s screen. The display was my only issue though. No audio problems. My receiver (RX-V375) toggles between Audio Decoder/Input/DSP Program.

Thank you so much. I own the old Onkyo TxNR 805 and I have been very happy with it. Recently, I picked up the Yamaha RX-V385BL for my bedroom system and I was very unhappy with the thinness and the enamic sound of it. Also the " decoder off" with no sound. I followed your instruction and the issue with the Decoder Off with no sound was solved. One thing though, with the RX-V385BL, there is no round button for the " program" but a right and left straight line push in . I had to circle the straight line " program" button toward the end of the cycles to get to the " Cancel- All". Also, I also learned from another youtuber how to make the sound of the RX-V385BL more lively and dynamic by holding the " option" button to activate the " Adaptive DCR " and the " Enhancer" in the drop down menu, the difference is like day and night. The RX-V385BL now is lively and dynamic that drives my Klipsch RP-600 to it full potential. Thank you.

Hopefully I'll never have to do this but I saved this segment in case. I have the Yamaha V671 AV receiver since new back in 2012 and till this day has been performing flawless..

Hey, thanks for the video. Unknowingly, I have disable the surround i.e. 5.1 surround. Can you help how to enable back on the receiver? Ex: With 5 stereo program all speakers works, with other DSP only front speakers are working, no sound from Center and rear speakers. Not sure what I did change…..

Uncompressed audio it’s clearer than compressed but your avr should have e/arc

Yamaha RX-a2 was working fine. Then I stupidly turned off ARC (some brainiac said you had to in order to access eARC). When I did that, it went into Decoder Off mode, and I can no longer get into settings. The button on the remote doesn't do anything. I can't factory reset because there is no longer a straight button on the front panel, and the manual gives you absolutely NO info on how to reset. What a piece of shit. Bringing it back today.

Hi I have Yamaha HTR-3072 Sony TV KDL43W800D On my Yamaha avr why it is showing PCM ? When i click straight(Raw content) on remote. It should show DD/DTS Even if i am playing 5.1 DD DTS etc. content on TV. Connected ARC from avr to TV Setting on TV set to Digital Out (DD/DTS)
