We got these into the shop I work at. I tried one when they came in and was very impressed. A lot of people have a stigma about Yamaha, but I kept asking people to try it and give their opinion. Everyone that played one was highly impressed. One guy came in to buy an amp and left with a with one of these to go with it. All 3 in our initial order were gone in less than 2 weeks. Yamaha did very well with these.

@orryfishburne53268 ай бұрын
@@ivanquaglio2242 as far as specs goes, the only difference is 2 carbon fiber strips on the body for extra resonance in the Professional, but the main reason why the Standard and Professional are priced so differently is that the Standard is made in Indonesia and the Professional is made in Japan.

From the factory I had to 1) adjust the truss rod to get rid of slight buzz on open E and A, 2) add some more foam to get pickups to my preferred height, 3) polish light machining marks on frets (scratchy on vibratos), 4) lower bridge height. I have the Revstar Element in the Swift Blue, and it's the perfect guitar... except (you knew there'd be an "except" to this). First, it lacks individual volume controls for the pickups. Being a Les Paul player for more years than I care to remember, that's something I really enjoy is being is each pickup having its own volume control. That way you can even use the toggle as a kill switch. Which brings me to my second problem with the Revstar, the slider switch. Again, I'm a Les Paul/Gibson player so I prefer the 3 way toggle over the slider. The slider/blade switch which looks like it's straight out of a Telecaster just feels cheap. Yeah, I could change out the tip, but the tip is not the problem. It's the switch itself. Possibly something I'm looking at modifying down the road. Lastly, I know you like the dry filter switch, but I'm not noticing a huge difference here in terms of it being engaged and it being off. Possibly that's something with the Element as opposed to the Pro, but to me it just seems like a bit of a waste. I'm contemplating having that replaced with a conventional tone pot. I know these seem like nitpicks, but I really do feel that these are something that detract from my overall enjoyment of the instrument.
@TomButwin Жыл бұрын
I think you’ve got quite a few very valid points here. I really would love to do a side by side of the Pro and Element to see how different they are. I know someone has, but to have both guitars in the same room would be cool. Either way, they’re really cool guitars.

@RobotShlomo Жыл бұрын
@@timjoseph887 That's right, I did. Like I said, I like it parts of it which I maybe should have said outright first. I do like how the neck joint gives you good access to the higher frets. It's got a cool shape to it. The frets themselves are excellent. It's a relatively light guitar which makes it easier to play. The neck very comfortable. The hardware is good enough (I might change out the tuning machines though). The color? Yamaha sells red in the UK and EU, which I would admittedly prefer.

@LogicalQ4 ай бұрын
My guy, your presentation style is fine, but please do some research on guitar electronics. Out of phase is not achieved through a slight delay, and your explanation of it as well as the push/pull boost really missed the mark.
@TomButwin4 ай бұрын
From Yamaha: “Positions 2 and 4 slightly delay the opposite pickup for a subtle phase shift that offers a fresh take on classic “in-between” sounds.” Are Strats actually “out of phase”? No. But, we’re beyond that in the guitar world now and people (erroneously) refer to it as such. From Yamaha: “The push/pull Tone control activates a passive boost with an effect similar to overwound pickups-darker highs, increased mids and lows, and an aggressive character.” I watched someone disassemble one of these and they explained the transformer/passive boost, my guy. 🤷🏻
@LogicalQ4 ай бұрын
@@TomButwin you’ve fallen victim to a translation from Japanese, delay and phasing are not the same. Delay is the offsetting of two signals by a fixed amount of time. This could be used to create the out of phase effect at a fixed frequency, but change notes and it’s no longer the case. Out of phase is when the two signals destructively interfere due to the wave forms being the inverse of each other. Think cosine and sine waves competing with one another. This is typically done in guitars by wiring the lead of one pickup backwards. In a perfect world it would cancel completely, but because the pickups are located in different spots along the string, it doesn’t, and you’re left with a thin sound.
