Yamaha sr500 - Engine restoration, part 3

The third part in the process of restoring a Yamaha sr500 engine. In this episode I'm disassembling the clutch and oil pump.

Just about to start restoring my 1980 sr500G. I bought from a dealer in 81 with 100 miles. i’ve had it parked out in the barn since 19 99, 25 years. It’s Fall of 2024 am I’m gearing up for a full resto. The 4 videos you made are excellent! They have given me a gigantic boost of encouragement! Solid visual information and tips. Thank you!

Hope you've got notifications on man, we loved these videos. Honestly the best shot videos taking apart the SR. I was hoping you had a part 4 of going through the bottom end and reassembling as I'm about to dig in to mine. Couple months ago while riding my exhaust tappet nut came loose, causing stuff to flap wildly. By the time could pull over away from traffic... Well, I knew it wasn't good. Both camshaft bearings exploded from what I figured was the vibration+ them being older than I thought. Exciting. Cheers dude, if you ever shoot more videos of this, people will watch it for generations. Great teachings.

Greetings friend, thanks for your kind words! Its very encouraging to get messages like yours. The plan is to buy a workshop press as soon as I have time and money. I need that to remove the crankshaft. With the filming and editing its time consuming but alot of fun so more will come! Meanwhile I hope you get some great spring drives with that XT500 of yours! Thanks for your video! I am looking into my clutch issues as I have no lever freeplay. I thought it wouldn't be right that the inner clutch boss teeth don't line up flush with the axle teeth but just noticed it's the same on yours! I was thinking to remove the washer behind the clutch boss but not sure if that's a great idea.. If you have any suggestions that'd be appreciated!
