I have a very simple philosophy. If a bike is not great without electronics, then it should not exist in the first place. T700 is a bright light in modern motorcycle tech frenzy

I really like the no nonsense approach. I appreciate it with the MT line to. I don't give a damn about gizmos. Ok. Cornering abs would be great. But I'm ok without all of the other stuff. Builds in complexity, You will have more that can break or fail. Murphy's law still applies.

@@jorgeneriksson3144 Murphy's law is scientifically unproven. Of course which bike is best for you is subjective, but which bike is better or worse, safer or unsafe is no longer subjective in 2020. Telescopic forks, axially mounted brake calipers, lack of traction control makes a bike not good anymore in 2020, especially at current prices.

Surprised no reviewer except 1 speaks of how much effort went into the design in the sprocket to swingarm pivot to increase traction and reduce wheel spin. As your climb on dirt hills the rear tire is driven into the ground because of this design. I'm honestly thinking of trading in my 2018 yz250 and getting a T7 as my off road only bike, with the right tires I can put in hundreds of miles on dirt in a day where I live. Awesome bike

dunno, for me the most essential adv bike is the 1090 adv r. its got everything, 48mm fork, 125 hp, relatively light and the looks. some day one will be mine. the t7 is undersprung and underdamped. if you want to go mental on it, you have to immediately spend anywere from 1k to 2,5k€ for a suspension tuning or even a totally new rear shock and some cartridge style front fork inserts. really don't like that about it. it's too sensible, adv bikes in my mind can't make sense, whats the point?!? if you want the best for riding dirt, buy a dirtbike. if you want the best for road riding, buy a roadbike. adventure bikes are silly, the t7 sadly is just not silly enough, for me at least.
@JohannesDalenMC
@JohannesDalenMC 3 жыл бұрын
For 90$ you can get a heavier spring for the shock. For 650$ you can get upgraded fork internals. All of the KTM adv bikes has awesome specs and all the bells and whistles, but they lack the one thing that should be a benchmark for any adv bike: reliability. I would NEVER leave my home for more than a couple of hours in any direction on a KTM.

Right now I have a Royal Enfield Himalayan, which I really love. But when I upgrade to a bigger bike (in 1 year or 2), it will either be a bigger Himalayan (if Royal Enfield ever launches it) or the Tenere 700! Simple, reliable, honest, good looking and reasonably priced, it ticks all the boxes! Personally, I don't understand this obsession with electronic gadgets that most people don't even use. Just a source of problems and stress when you're on the road, in my opinion... Nice review as usual! Keep it up! Cheers from Portugal!

Thank you and...it may be The One. The ergos are excellent for my size (6' tall with 32" inseam. The motor feels pretty punchy compared to my VStrom 650. The windshield seems fine to me, up to 150km/h, but I rode a Drz400sm for years and don't mind some wind blast. No helmet buffeting at all, even with a peaked helmet. Brakes felt like they lacked initial bite, for the 1st couple days, but now they feel great with 2 fingers. Slow speed, it seems so nimble. I'm not experienced off-road, but I was crawling around some construction sites last night and really enjoyed it. Coming from the DRZ, it feels like it handles the same, just with a lot more power. It's only been 4 days but I'm already looking to sell my Vstrom.

I'm a long time Tenere fan (my first bike as a teen was an old XT500)... but I already have a couple 450-500lb adv bikes (Tiger and Multistrada)... they're capable of light offroad (dirt road/fire road sort of stuff) but too heavy for anything more. The T7 is more capable from a suspension and setup perspective but that weight is a boat anchor (the XT500 felt heavy for offroad... and that was 300lbs!). However, I totally WOULD get this as a ADV/Touring bike though... there that weight is a benefit keeping the bike stable and comfortable for long hours in the saddle. Something like a 50/50 ADV bike (the bikes I have now are more like 80/20 and 90/10). And for that use the price is outstanding, throw on some soft bags and you're good to go. Kindof like a lower cost/lighter weight Africa Twin.

Been waiting a long time for this bike...still like my Husqvarna501 substitute, but it would would have been parked in my garage if it was available...and it still may be. My only tweak would be suspension with stiffer springs. Nice job Yamaha !!!

Anything north of 300LBS is mediocre offroad, full stop. I love this bike, especially for mixed touring, but a more touring focused CFR450L it isn't. It's a "smaller" ADV bike at an amazing price point, which is what makes it brilliant. Cheers.

Touring and off road are two opposite things. You have to compromise somewhere. A dirt bike is not terrific slogging on pavement, a touring bike is is going to be mediocre on dirt. ADV bikes are a compromise between the two.

I test drove the 1190 adventure, that thing sucked. Sure engine super strong compared to others, but runs rough, it did smooth out on the highway. But the fit n finish the bike felt like it was built in china. My moneys on the yamaha, there proven build quality, and hold there value compared to ktm
@MotorosVandor
@MotorosVandor 4 жыл бұрын
@@ibidu1 i own a 1190 Adv, and i can asure you, its not rough. If you drove a broken one, thats not the bikes fault. Also, if you think, it runs rough, you never drove a 1 cylinder bike, not even a modern one. At the point you wrote build in china quality, i was become sure, you dont drove it, sorry

@@MotorosVandor My initial impression of the 790 was that it ran like a diesel tractor so I share ibidu1's concern, but there is no question in my mind that KTMs do perform despite the roughness.

@@Danlmosher I had the same feeling, but with the Aprilia Pegaso (2008 model). Can't imagine a more fun bike all around, ticked all my boxes. The only "downside" was the peak power of 50hp which made it perhaps a bit too lacking in some regards. The 1 cyl thumper had loads of torque and character tho, which made up for it. I think for that size bike and weight, 70 ish hp is the perfect sweet spot.

All the reviews about the T7 say the same but I haven't seen anyone take across the country or around the world somewhere. Therefore, why is it called an Adventure bike. It seems to be an over priced dirt bike. I hope to see someone really ride it as it was intended to give it a complete review.

If you're an experienced rider that can flatfoot when stopped, yes. Most ADV riding/touring is on gravel roads, etc. ADV bikes are touring bikes that can go more place, not Enduros.
