THANKS FOR ANOTHER PRACTICAL VIDEO. I wanted to ask you how "better different" was the T7 after the rear spring change? I am 79kg-80 all equipped.

Hi Roland, That means you're probably the same weight as I'm. I'm 72-75kg in underpants depending on how many beers I had. I've put 85Nm spring on the rear despite the 80Nm would probably be enough but I need to compensate for the amount of luggage I carry when I travel. It is much better, especially when one starts to jump or go hard off-road because the rear stops to bottom out and has some slack to deal with that kind of riding. The most important is the rider sag, I was not able to get it right with the OEM spring unloaded, I was able to have correct with 80Nm spring with 17 preload and with 85Nm I have about 8 preload and good sag. If you travel both loaded and unloaded, I'd justify to get the stronger spring as it will give you adjustment range, with OEM you'll be on max/close to max preload all the time.

Hi, On your install vid you asked MSC as to the correct placement of the steering stem washer. Did they come back to you with an answer?

I've checked the e-mail communication and unfortunately not. The communication is not their strongest suit which is a bit of shame.

Hi Pavel, What is your opinion of steering dampers in general now you've had one for a while? Have you made a video of this?
@FARANDFURTHER2 жыл бұрын
I've not yet done video on the damper. Main reason was that I had it only one season and done the Dinaric 2021 with it and had no time to do it. It does not make sense to do a video if one didn't use it for a while to be honest. Now I think I could... In a nutshell... When you ride fast and for long (rally) then it will help you a lot to reduce the fatigue & limit the risk of the handlebars suddenly closing on you. High speed is where it starts to matter on sand, rocks, gravel etc... When you ride on road you won't use it at all. We on T7 usually don't ride at speed to get tank slapper on the road. When you ride gravel / normal off-road it's a luxury item. It will help you if you make a mistake or if you hit a rock which would close your handlebars but in general you probably don't need it. When you ride technical stuff (single trails, sharp turns etc...) you need quick response so you don't use it as well. That would be my opinion.

Hi Pavel!! I feel the need of a dampener at times, specially going fast in loose stuff with mixed in gravel/rocks. But also in technical slow stuff, front deflects so hard. Is it worth it? 😬.
@FARANDFURTHER3 жыл бұрын
That is a million dolar question, isn't it... well about €400 question. I found it useful when going fast off-road in general. Especially in the terrain you mentioned, sand, rocks etc... When in really technical terrain at low speed, it's better to have it set to minimum as one needs the handlebar free to be able to manage the situation. For rally for example or training it will save you loads of energy and the reason I bought it is for the Dinaric rally and other rallies I - now wanteD to participate. As those situations are also higher speed it will provide a layer of security when I make mistake or miss some terrain feature which would deflect the front vigorously, possibly leading to "brown pants" or worse situation. So, for those scenarios, yes, it works and is worth the money. Although it's also doable without it of course. In terms of overlanding/travelling... I'd spend the money on something else instead. That would be my take on it.

@@FARANDFURTHER thanks Pavel 👌 I saw Off the road .de have scotts dampener for 400€ 🥵, but i think i will get a new rear shock first, then maybe a dampener 😬 and/or Donner tech new rear handle/rack with soft luggage support. Cheers Marcus

@@everythingtenere Even if you think about the rally, I’d invest into the suspension rather than the damper. I didn’t really believe how much difference suspension makes but it does. 👍

@@FARANDFURTHER yea, got the RR open cartridge kit, and after that you really feel how much the rear is lacking in performance 😬

@@FARANDFURTHER ohhh, was looking at just the bracket for the scotts one 🙈. Complete kit is 720€. Ohhh boy
