Just like the 660 Tenere, but younger thus better at everything apart from the range. I had the ''08 660 Tenere for over 40 000 Km, I can recommend it to you, Cager. Even that with the 48bhp engine was capable doing 130-150kmph on the motorway, and with the Pirelli Scorpion Tyres, it was a joy to ride it in the worst rain at those speeds on those tyres. I was never able to afforf dropping the bike so only did 2 attempts with offroading and dropped it twice at low speeds in soft grass and flood plains / flooded;)) /. I am not sure, if the bike is Expensive. Before the economic crash in 2008 it was about £6000 - 1 890 000 HUF -, and overnight the 2009 models became £7000-ish. But that bike was a lot simpler and about 15kgs heavier than this. 48bhp, Single, 5 speed, no ABS, No TRC, Basic Instruments. After 11 years for that price increase you get a lot more and better bike. Fuel prices gone up by 30% as well - compared to 2011. Oh, just get heated grips for it!!! Have a great week!

I am really,really impressed by this bike. No one dislikes it or says negative things that I have seen. You can find bikes that do specific things better such as off road,touring,sport riding,etc. but they do only that single task better. This thing does a bit of everything and does it well. What is there not to like. If this motorcycle were a meal it would be a buffet,what do you want today? 😀

As far as I know, was told, on loose surface in straights you have to put most of the weight to rear so that forks can soak all the bumps, and only when turning, put more weight on front and if needed let rear slide a bit

If you had an X-ADV, would you sell it for the Tenere 700? Coz thats the dilemma I'm facing right now. The xadv is a 90/10% on-road/off-road bike where the T7 seems more like 40/60. I do both. However I like doing the easy off-road versions Dakar style by gas'sing it. With the xadv it feels like the bike will fall apart when going full throttle through hard gravel. However the xadv has some perfect twisties riding like the tracer, where you can really lean the bike. I might only miss that. So having a hard decision.

Price aside, the main thing that sells me on this bike is what you’ve said...its ruggedness. You cant take every “adventure” bike on every road. But this one, you can. And thats exactly what i need from an adventure bike. Some adventure bikes are too pretty and would cost too much to repair if you drop it somewhere off road. I dont see that being a problem with this one. 🤷🏻♂️ it looks great, runs great, its simple. Go everywhere bike, Sold me. Great review!

Test bikes should be out next month. As for now Yamaha sends out only bikes for clients, not for dealers. I rode one and being a tall guy I must say that the bike needs bar risers out of the box. And I mean nothing hardcore like sand dunes or 1 meter of mud.

S10 for days! I had my Super Tenere after riding 2008 built 660 Tenere, and I would never go back, unless it was for Pure offroading. A brand New Africa Twin owner sat on my Super10, he was about 5'9"/175cm - I'm 6'4"/193cm - and said: Shit, I should have gotten this over the Africa Twin... straight after just landing on the seat and reaching for the controls. But do test rides on the bikes you consider, or if you can't just ask around for detailed long term owner reviews. When it comes to maintenance and repair costs, ask for prices as well! Don't forget, who can afford a GS can possible afford the repair and service cost as well thus will possible talk down on those figures.;)) 2010 Super Tenere's are "dirt" cheap. Reliable, simple, good on long trips, and if you keep the speeds down, you can get far with a 23 litre tank;))) If you're in the UK, you can get 2010 Super 10s from £5500 with extra,s with about 30 000+ Miles and you don't have to worry about the valve clearances either. I got the major service done at 24 000 miles, paid £70 in parts, valves were in spec. Someone done it after 40K miles, and still was in spec. I am advertising mine for £6500 for the looks and for the exquisite sound, if you're around /Bristol, UK and interested;)) You can watch a couple of videos of my bike as well. Just selling mine to change it to my other childhood dream bike, nothing is wrong with my Super10;)) SHAFT DRIVE!;))) And feel free to ask questions about the Super 10. Well, about the first/second year models;)))

@@V4zz33 Aye - S10 is cheaper in every aspect in comparison with GS. I was only sitting on Africa and always thought that either my legs are in wrong position while they are on the ground, or it's just the placement of the pegs that gets in the way xD I hope that Yamaha will 'upgrade' S10 sooner than later, because the gap to the BMW is getting bigger and bigger (I like GSA for it's bulky looks from the front, and possibly only for that xD).

@@MeThorvald If you're planning on going for long trips than comfort is kind of important;)) But you can always stop for a little refueling so can stretch;)) I rode mine back from Carlisle to Bristol second week of February, and I only started to feel my bum after 3 hours when I had to refuel anyway. Just in case;)) 5 hours trip with a used bike, and I had no problems with this idea. Would you be this confident on anything used with about 23 000miles on the clock? I mean, non-Japanese bikes. I wouldn't be. I don't think that you can put price tag on reliability when the most reliable one already costs thousands less than its competition. The only things that I wanted from the S10 to be upgraded were: Standard windscreen, Useless for my height at 6'4 Standard Cruise Control - it is after '13 models Standard dual exhaust - no chance by looking at the standards, nowadays. Apart from weight, I do not think that there is any real world riding advantage to the GS. Anything that can matter in the ride, you can get that on both bikes, and silly stuff for the GS. Haha, and the S10 does not have that fugly beak;))) What would you like to see on the S10 upgraded?
@MeThorvald5 жыл бұрын
@@V4zz33 Well - I don't really know what they could put into S10 to make it better. The only thing I know that people complain is how linear and 'boring' the engine is (didn't ride one so I don't know), while new 1250GS is 'fun to ride'. I just hope that Yamaha will refresh the looks without changing the dash (simple yet very effective) and sitting position :D I dislike new dashes on Tracer 900 GT / R1. And if we're talking about touring - MV AGUSTA TURISMO VELOCE 800 looks so damn good :3
@V4zz335 жыл бұрын
@@MeThorvald Yeah, I feel the same, but I don't think that's a problem, but just shows how good the bike is, as it is in its current package. The looks of the GS didn't change much, it was just the KTMs that got a major face uplift, but that again, just like the Beemer's beak is divisive. I don;t know what they mean, unless it's a strong love bias towards the GS. Would 20bph mean that much more fun? You can get the ECU reprogrammed for a couple of hundred quid, and that will give you 20bhp over 5500rpm. Did they try it in Sport or Turing mode? The S10 that is. I haven't ridden many bikes, so Can;t really compare it to anything from the same range. All I can say is, that it gets me up easy to 100mph in several seconds, and from 3000rpm in 3rd-4th-5th it becomes a rocket. 6th gear, 60mph at 3000rpm and to accelerate from there it is a bit mellow in response but about 3500-3700 it goes again. But this slow response only happens in 6th gear, so not even in 5th. The other thing is, is the perception of speed. You just don't feel the speed on the Super10 till about 100mph. Your only way to tell that how fast you're going is to your speed relative to your environment and if you look at the speedo. I feel the 80mph as I would do 40... In my opinion this just ads to its touring prowess, where you don't want to be fatigued quickly. So all I can say is, that I think reviewers just don't have the time to get the bikes well for obvious reasons, so they compare their inputs with their previous experiences, which is going to be skewed a bit, because other manufacturers have different styles, but many bike within their range with similar styles, so they get use to how those bikes feel to ride and how to ride it. The Super10 is different, that''s all to it. By the way, the intake noise over 3000 sounds and feels like if you'd be sitting in a F4U Corsair... that whistle is lovely!;))) Regarding to the MV Agusta: each of their own. I don't like its look of it. Not for me;)) Looks like a futuristic alien bug. But It reminds me to the Protoss Probe from StarCraft 2, and that is cute though.;))) So I'm torn;)) Oh, but I do love the triple pipes!;)) BAck to the SuperT: I agree, the dash is as good as it gets. It's super informative, won't overload you with useless info, allows you to concentrate on the road. But this goes back to the 660 Ten as well. The bike won't distract you from observing the traffic around you. During my 30 000+ miles riding the 660 and 1200, I only had to hit the breaks hard several times, and I'm using them for commuting, in heavy traffic, and on busy motorways. And I rarely go slower than 80mph on motorways.Unless I have to be in completely eco riding mode;))) Haha, as a last bit: In town, you keep it a bit over 3000 in 3rd gear - you're breaking the speed limit anyways - and you can play around and be a hooligan if you want;))) The sweet gruntie sound it makes gives you a wide smile on your face;))) But any how, just give a chance to the Super10, you won't regret trying it, and just keep in mind what I've mentioned here.;)) And it is one of the most capable offroading one out of the big Adventure Tourers. Cheers

It's at least about a 1000€ too heavy on the price tag! BUT.... If you are a Offroadrider you might think otherwise, or even like to hate me for my opinion. That's allright. I've encountered such an experience before. But I won't change my mind about this bike anyway. I don't like the 21"-tyre at the front, because they look so tiny (in terms of width) and incapable of doing a good road job (compared to a 19"- or even a17"-rim). Yes, it is supposed to go onroad and offroad. But Offroad-capabilities are useless to me, simply because I don't want to do the cleaning and I don't like this constant unsteady feel on the bike. If you like that, than buy that bike, I won't. I just like the seating-position, the looks and the size of an adventure-bike, because I'm a tall guy myself (like the V-Strom, the Tigers and the R1200 GSA).
