what's the point of a high fender other than aesthetics?
@exothermal.sprocket5 жыл бұрын
@@carlosandleon Increased wheel travel needs increased space for the wheel to move. If you're referring to the front fender, usually it's to prevent the occasional mud caked from tearing it off, or locking up the tire from moving.
@carlosandleon5 жыл бұрын
@@exothermal.sprocket Yeah, i meant the front, but considering you can heighten the low fender on the tenere i think a high beak fender is not necessary on the tenere 700. Dakar bikes have also sported low fenders so beak fenders really aren't necessary at all.

So unusual: you found some aspects of the bike that aren't perfect. The other reviewers should be embarrassed. Thanks. The detail that you went into was incredibly valuable.

So great to see a straight to the point and unbiased review! So many "reviewers" these days seem to be afraid of pointing out any compromises or anything remotely negative out of fear of not being invited to future events.
@HUSKY7-15 жыл бұрын
Many so called reviewers these days are just free loaders with their own agenda of self promotion in this ' look at me, look at me' generation and no real reviewing skills or ability to dissect and verbalise a bike's pros and cons. Brake magazine is the exact opposite of this, by far and away the most professional, unbiased, articulate and accurate reviews I have come across. As someone else already mentioned in the comments, you can almost feel the way the bike rides from listening to the review. Well done Brake Magazine.

I think the Yamaha team was very smart to offer the Tenere 700 in this foundational package to start with an eye towards adding S and R models in the future. As you've noted, the bike is going to appeal to a lot riders and encourage them to ride farther. And feel great about what they've accomplished - which is what it's all about!

Just placed my deposit (Feb. '20) and am torturing myself watching vids like this until it arrives in June. Having fun shopping for and buying accessories for it: HEED crash bars, Tusk MOLLE rackless luggage over an SW Motech tail rack, SW Motech center stand, HEED crash bars, Adventure Spec skid plate, GIVI S310 auxiliary lights, Pivot Pegs. Seems like many North American manufacturers/retailers are not building/stocking many accessories for these bikes yet. Most are European sourced. They better get with the program in the US and Canada, because Yamaha is going to sell a gazillion of these bikes here.

Great review. Loved your straight talk. No flowery language and no sugar coating. Gives a very good idea of the bike. And it seems like a terrific buy for the money and will give the far more expensive mid weights a real run. Glad to hear you can do long motorway days too as that’s a necessary evil that any adv bike needs to cater to. Top bike overall.

Best review of the Tenere, i wish i saw that before buying one...5:54 - is spot on! It's not a adrenalin pump bike, if you after one don't fool yourself - you won't be happy with it. It's not ready to race - it's ready to plod along, and God forbid dropping it offroad - plastics are not even enduro type - they are same as on road bikes and they cracking very quickly. They are also painted (not colour molded) so they will scratch badly offroaad, and as they are matte finish you wont be able to polish out scratches :-/

My favorite type of ADV riding is long-distance trips to third world countries, and this is the bike we've been waiting for: capable, comfortable, forgiving to ride, simple and cheap! Complicated electronics are a liability in countries where you might have to truck your bike to the capital and wait three weeks for your part to be shipped in. Simple is so much better. Yamaha have shown they really understand the adventure traveler biker.

Thank you for a very helpful review. One comment is that another reviewer pointed out that their (a couple with 2 T7s) bikes leaked fuel from that ugly cap when tipped over. And one question about the ABS: you commented that the ABS was not as functional off-road under some circumstances. But I understand that the system is switchable (at least the rear??). So how does your observation align itself with the ability to turn off the ABS? Thanks again. This was a truly in-depth and practical review.

Our comment was that the ABS isn't great off-road. If you turn it off the brakes are fine. I didn't crash one to test the fuel cap sorry.

Well done review Thank You i think most modern bikes with foul injection suffers from jerky throttle when you start do to the lean mixture mapping of the engine it is extreme on big singles like the Yamaha XT 660ZA Ténéré but it can be helped a lot by simply mounting a booster plug in series with the intake temp censor.
@BrakeMagazine5 жыл бұрын
They were problematic but slowly people are figuring it out. For a lot of more recent bikes, electronic throttles have helped. The biggest problem is the emissions.
