I had one as a courtesy bike in ‘91 while having the gearbox rebuilt on my zzr1100. I had it for 4 months and although it was impractical, oh boy was it a laugh. I got 46 miles to a tank full when i screwed it(which was everywhere)and the 2 stroke filler is a nightmare without a nozzle or funnel, but i have lusted after one ever since. Spokes snap, front caliper seizes up, but I love the power valve servos cycling when you turn the key on and the stink of 2 stroke left on you after a ride. I had 110mph out of it on a beach and on twisty backroads not much will keep up with one.

That TZR 250 engine that was fitted to the TDR was genius of Yamaha plus the whole bike was meant to be ridden on tarmac even though it was off road styled - I bought a new one in 1988 and had it for 2 years - loved it.

Grin factor of 10++. I had one as a fun bike in the nineties when not using the heavy 'thous', friends thought I'd gone mad but all wanted a go & were convinced.... I was mad, the bike was mad, they also wanted to become mad & I'm all the better for it. Just wish I still had it & a replacement is now so costly. Every biker needs to experience one of these. PS, nice to see you reving the bike as it was intended.

Had one for years, a rocket ship,. Lighting the back end up was always fun on a damp road,.. crazy horse, put the tzr wheels and swing arm on it, .1 oversize pistons, Regret selling it big time, 700 yoyos to a mate, 20yrs ago. Got totalled a month later,. Tut tut.
