Just finished adding a lot of the same mods. The Tusk stuff went on easy and was a good value. I especially liked the fender eliminator kit install. It was super easy and really cleaned up the tail. Now it’s time to get this T7 dirty.

Thanks for reminding me, I gotta put the new foot pegs on the Brozz this weekend and figure out how to adjust the pannier racks I have to put on and make them fit. Got a trip to Maine in August.

Just installed pannier racks and bags on my MG TT85. Wish i had videoed my install. Would have shown the typical learning curve for us non professional mechs. Thanks for sharing Dork!

Fun stuff. I'm hoping to see your exhaust option ( provided you do it) . To me although certainly not the first , it is the MOST needed mod. Besides it looking like a sore thumb the horror stories I heard about a bent frame scared me . Good luck and have fun. Modding my bike was probably the funnest part!!!

I changed the foot pegs on my Ktm 690 and it was the toughest mod of all the mods I’ve done to her and I’ve done a bunch of stuff. If I would’ve made a video of the install I would’ve had to put a foul language warning ⚠️ at the beginning 😳. Those springs are very tough to get back in their home. The Tenere is looking awesome 👍

I always use blue thread lock when installing farkles, or when reinstalling factory hardware. I’ve lost various fasteners over the years before I learned the thread lock trick.
@DorkintheRoad2 жыл бұрын
Good trick. I need to do it more often.
@deltabravo12572 жыл бұрын
My first bike lost a lot of hardware. It was a 1994 DR350SE that I bought in 1994. Eventually I started using blue thread lock. It isn’t necessary to use in every time you R&R a given bolt. One application will typically work for several instances of removing the screw or bolt.
@rickreasoner86642 жыл бұрын
I bet you never thought you’d be turning wrenches, a few years ago, like you are now. You even figured out bolt size magic.

Note on the Tusk crash bars for the T7. I was taking mine off to install a graphics kit and with no torque at all turned one of the front four cap screws into string cheese. Had to grind off the head, push the threads and nut through the other side. Which credit to them was very easy. Just turn the handlebars to the front tire is out of the way. I like the bars, they've saved my bike plenty of times but maybe think about getting some grade 8 (well 12 b/c metric) hex head bolts for where they overlap in the front there :D

Just an fyi the metal that the rear brake lever is made of is pretty soft. My nephew went down on his t700 on the TAT last summer in the slick bright orange Georgia clay. We were creeping along. Clays slick as ice. Light drop on side of rear break lever. Twisted it all crazy like. We took it off used two channel locks and straightened it back out easily. We ended up repeating this two other times. Not sure what it’s made of but never showed signs of metal fatigue.

Gotta tell you I’m very impressed with the T700. It was a bad ass on the TAT last summer. We did some pretty advanced off road sections and it was all I could do on my suspension modified f800 gs to keep up with my nephew. The t700 although not a heck of a lot lighter was much more nimble. I’m still considering adding why in my stable.

i saw the KLR you still have it! yes.
@ChooseBrian2 жыл бұрын
Be mindful on those side body panels but there is a tab that slips in at the top to keep it in place you will likely eventually bend that tab and break it off. No consequence but just know it’s there. Also that rubber foam that’s on the inside will fall off little bit of gorilla glue or something like that will help that remain intact
@johnmartin71442 жыл бұрын
Order of operation. Always install inside items (radiator guard) first.
@unclebadger5972 жыл бұрын
Ha. Haters go! Glad to see you had to mess with those Tusk hand guards. I had to too on the KLR. I guess just cuz they're "universal". I'm glad to have them on there. Pretty bulletproof 👍 The first TING you hear against that headlight guard, you'll be glad you had it. Or maybe I just ride too close 😏
@DorkintheRoad2 жыл бұрын
Yeah the universal ones almost never mount right up without some adjustment.

With the foot pegs file clean where the bolt goes through they seem to put to much material on them and it makes the hole to tight
