I went to an Ebike specialty shop in Ann Arbor ( HEH ) 3 months ago and tested all the top ebikes back to back - this one stuck out as the best overall - alot of the more popular ebikes are chunkier and heavier - this was very nimble - was on sale too for apprx $2g and came w/ an extra battery!! A great bike!
@jam20557 ай бұрын
Hey! I'm wondering, could you tell me some of the other top ebikes they had at the shop?? I'm having a hard time choosing an ebike and I feel an attraction to this one, it'd really help to know other ebikes you tested. Thanks

I've owned this bike a couple years. Love it! Just a comment on the review, you cannot charge anything off of the display unit. Unless they've upgraded the software, the port is disabled. Works on the Wabash, but not the Wabash RT.

Thanks for the review! This bike is on sale for $1,679 at Yamaha right now + a free battery. Which seems like an insane deal. Do I add a fourth ebike to the mix? Might be worth adding this one even if I have to get rid of another.
@lasticonoclast4 ай бұрын
Yep. Just bought a pair of Crosscore RC for $1,200 each with extra free battery and extended 3 year warranty. What a steal! BTW, these models are due for a replacement. The motor is supposed to be 20% smaller and slightly more powerful.

I am thinking of doing it because I have two bikes. a first gen aventon level and a Cannondale topstone 105. So Ive got garbage groupset and buttery smooth shimano 105. Now this has the GRX 6000 groupset which is the equivalent to shimano 105. could this be what I love about my two bikes combined into 1??? Sure seems like it.
@herminio0019 ай бұрын
Liked the review and got the bike is great, the only problem I have is the paint on the bike, you mention about the cable management that caused the paint to rub off but that's not the whole problem, its the paint quality, the paint easily scratches and chips at least on mine. I suggest you put some frame protection as soon as possible.
@polok8904 ай бұрын
Look at a new crosscore, paint was already dull by the pedals. Yamaha are hugely on sale right now

I would like to see info on the battery recharge procedure. Can you recharge without removing the battery?
@stevesmith38904 ай бұрын
I've had gravel bikes for years. I've been looking at the CrosscoreRC which is billed as a city/fitness bike yet the differences are small to this bike. Flat bar vs drop, 27.5 vs 700c, 11x1 vs 9x2, front suspension vs none. Am I missing something? in some cases I'd argue the RC would be a better gravel bike but it's not marketed that way. The Wabash does have some higher spec parts but it's a lot more money.

Thank you for a very nice and detailed review, I have question regarding sizing I am 5 11 and on website it suggest large is the appropriate size, would you please share some insight. I may order this one online , would like to be as accurate as possible. Thank you
@ElectricBikeReport11 ай бұрын
John here, I'm also 5'11" and the medium was comfortable for me. The wheelbase is a little on the longer side which I think helped with that, so if you want a "normal" feel maybe go with the medium and if you want a "roomy" feel then go with the large. Hope that helps!

I do really enjoy riding my Wabash RT, but there are los of concerns. I wanted to buy a rear rack, but it's like they no longer make it. In fact, Yamaha does not seem to really want to support their bike community. Their web presence on bikes is not good. The extra battery price is ridiculous. I also can't use normal water bottles or cages. I can't figure out what to do about that. The computer offers no other normal bike computer information other than speed and trip distance. You need another computer to give you other stats (avg speed, max speed, cadence, etc). The mount for the computer is really awkward. It shouldn't be that hard to find a good spot, but it is. It's a great bike but leaves a lot to be desired on these nuances.

It sounds like Yamaha is pulling out of the US at least. That may be why they sold these for around $1600 with extra battery and 5 year warranty in fall of 2004, which quickly sold out. A comparable bike from a Trek, Specialized, etc would probably be around $4000 or more with additional battery. (battery alone is at least $500)Even though Yamaha makes good products, be it motorcycles, musical instruments, electronics, if there is little to no dealer support, that is concerning. I don't think there has ever been a good support. In my area (Seattle), I have only seen them sold at motorcycle dealers. If you got one for the $1600 price, if even get 2-3 years out of it actually using it regularly, with no issues, that's still pretty good. What if battery finally ages out or any electronics/ programming malfunction, what then?

Since ebikes have noise, I think you should compare noise level between off and on, and the different settings without talking 😊

How many bikes offer regenerative brakes and also the ability to recharge the battery when pedaling any dual motor bikes recharge one battery when the other is driving. Love is you all and have a blessed day!!
@ElectricBikeReport Жыл бұрын
Regenerative braking is rare, as it requires a special and uncommon type of rear hub motor. It's also not that efficient at this point in time, although some new technologies might help to increase that efficiency. Thanks for watching and asking!

I don't know how on earth the small fits anyone 5' 1" with a 30.7" standover height.

With tires like that and a top tube placement straight across it'll always be tough for shorter riders to mount without really leaning the bike over.

Not having suspension is why bike has great range
@manteocyclery7347 Жыл бұрын
It has a lot to do with how light the bike is and how efficient mid drive motors are.
@ElectricBikeReport Жыл бұрын
That likely helped a bit, but its results weren't much different from the Yamaha CrossCore RC that had a suspension. It's likely a combination of factors, but with 4 different types of sensors, the motor seems more efficient in its draw from the battery.

@TheRayDog4 ай бұрын
@@The1Music2MyEars It is a very, very good price. The 2nd battery and extended warranty are icing, which makes it a great price, yes. Anything remotely close would go for around $2800. Though the dealer network for potential repairs is sparse. People are asking why, how they can sell for that price. I'm thinking they just can't get market share and are trying to make a splash, with a rumored new model and motor coming soon.
@The1Music2MyEars4 ай бұрын
@@TheRayDog yes I heard about it the 2025 coming soon. Do you think the motor being 20% smaller equates to even less motor noise? Or is it usually the opposite when decreasing size
@TheRayDog4 ай бұрын
@@The1Music2MyEarsI would expect a quieter drivetrain if only because that has been a complaint and I'd expect Yamaha to have responded. My guess is the motor is less to blame than the mechanical train. But I haven't heard it in person. Which, since I ordered an RT without the luxury of a dealer nearby to test ride, I'll find out for better or worse soon.
