Yamaha Warrior, No Spark. Loss of Spark. Stator Issue. Repaired with walk around.

Lost spark, tried 4 plugs, still no spark. Tested coil-Came up bad, changed it out, still no spark. Removed the stator and bench tested it, one side came up ok, other side tested no good. Installed old one back on machine and re-tested. Same results, needs new stator system. Bought a stator and CDI package and installed the stator, engine started right up. These 350cc engines have this one weak point, poor stators. Original machine except for the two front rims. Sorry, lots of nonsense talking here. See my other video on the parts being removed and installed. Great Machine to own!

How did you test the stator ?what readings were you looking for? And what wires to test specifically?

sorry, late reply here. I do not have my spec readings with me, as I have the bike away for winter, along with all my books. You need a multimeter, first off. The only thing I can tell you right now is search out Spec readings on the Warrior forums. [tons of info there] This engine is used in various Yamaha products and the weak point is the stator. Testing is straight forward, basicly one side of the stator fails, causing loss of spark. Test the wires coming out of the the side case, there is a 4 wire plug, I cannot remember the colors though, but resistance would be [I believe, zero] Sorry man, not a lot to go by at the moment.

Sure felt like a massive bite to my face at the time! Riding the ATV, Wasp hit my googles, went and lodged into the space between my face and helmet, then proceed to bite me. After I stopped and threw my helmet off, the wasp just flew away like nothing happened. Except it bit my cheekbone area....aaahhh yes, good times! Cheers!

Can you help me with the ground wire from batery to where ever it goes.. I took it apart and I don't remember where ground wire goes..😅

Damn, wish I had my Warior right beside me. Has to be to a grounded area. [of course] Somewhere on the frame, that cable is very short, look for a bolt hole once you stretch that cable out. That has to be the location. Make sure that area is clean/rust free. Let me know what you find! Stumpr1

the batteryt ground cable goes to top left side of the tranny, with a pigtail from battery clamp to top frame rail. The yr of bike determines if it also a ground or it goes to the starter. my manual sayes 1997 and newer both are grounds.

That is possible, but check that Stator first. Go thru the steps to make sure that this is the problem. You can buy the CDI/Stator as a package. [way cheaper] his way you have both items ready to go. I changed out just the Stator and have the CDI in my parts bin. Best of luck! Let me know, Cheers! Wayne

I have the same bike with the same problem or so I thought. I replaced the stator & the CDI all I'm getting is intermediate spark.! Any ideas. Would be greatly appreciated 🙏

The stator was the only weak spot for these engines. But you changed both and still have an issue. Coil, have you tried that? My coil tested bad, totally thought that was my problem, replaced it...still no spark. [was stator problem] Have you tried different plugs? Do that first. Start with the easiest first.....then try the coil, as they can give a problem like this. Let me and others know what you find.....

@@stumpr1 I have an 07 350 (raptor same thing) with the same problem. Was hopping it was the coil and, with a new plug, nothing. I've seen some say cdi but my 1st thought was the stator. Thanks. Didn't realize that was a weak point for these. Other than that, love my yamaha.

@@charlesmiller7139 Like I said, changed my coil out, no difference. It was the stator, as these are the weak points for these motors. In the begining, I had intermittent spark, some days the bike would run, other days, not. Miss fires everywhere. Warm, cold, heavy throttle, light throttle. Changed that stator and my bikes runs like new again, so glad I changed it out. Bought the kit, stator and CDI. Just changed the stator, still have the CDI in the box. Bike is away for the winter, can't wait to drive it! Cheers! Stumpr1

Made to run on low octane I believe.

Yes....can run on all 3 available gases we have. Just did a starter in it, as it was slow to crank over. Did a major drive 2 weeks ago, was a total blast! Cheers! Stumpr1

I have a 04 660r that only gets a single spark the moment I let off the start button. If I unplug the rectifier I get a great spark. Do you think it’s my stator? Any tips to figure this out?

Sorry man, i don't know much about the 660r's electrical side of things. Just do some searching on your machine, that's all I offer, there has to be others out there with the same concern. Stumpr1
